ST. MARY SCHOOL NEWS

This week we invite you to Parent's Day on Wednesday, October 2nd beginning after we celebrate the 9:30am Mass. Following mass, we invite you to the School Activity Center for light refreshments and coffee. We will have a presentation on the new Field Trip and Driver Forms from the Diocese. You may visit classrooms throughout the day. if you are ordering lunch for your family from an outside vendor, please have the order dropped off by 11:55am. We will eat lunch as an entire school at the same time and have recess after lunch is over. Thank you for spending the day with us. As a reminder, Sixth Grade will be at Mohican Outdoor Education on that day and you are welcome to visit Sixth Grade on Wednesday October 9th following the mass.

The Fall Fundraiser Flyers came home yesterday. This fundraiser supports many of the little projects we have in the school especially some field trip costs for your children.

Our Eighth Graders visited Kelleys Island this week to explore some of Ohio's Natural Places that are significant to the world. The Alvars are only known in Three areas of the world, one location being the North Shore of Kelleys Island. We also have the longest preserved evidence of a Glacial Groove which was left when the glaciers resided thousands of years ago. We saw the remnants of a ancient sea and wandered upon the Marian Shrine left at Kelleys many years ago by an unknown person. Our tour guide, Pat Hayes, surprised us with a visit to some Winery Ruins. Very cool indeed.

The students asked many questions and he answered them all. They loved connecting what they learned about community government in Unit 1 and applying the map skills they have learned in Unit 2 when the mayor shared a map of Wooster with them. We even posed and pretended to be in a meeting with the mayor before he left. It was a wonderful 45 minutes with them.
