A Publication of St. Gabriel the Archangel School 2/5/2025
Dear Fabulous Families -
Registration - Registration opened last Friday for current families. Registration for new families starts tomorrow (Thursday) at 9:00 am. We have had a healthy interest in Kindergarten, so we look forward to having more little Gators running around! Having an early and accurate registration count helps us with planning for next year. We can get a jumpstart on any hiring and look at classroom allocations.
Student-led Conferences - On Friday, you will receive a Sigh-Up Genius from your child's homeroom teacher for student-led conferences at the end of the month. These have been on the calendar for February 25 and 27, 3:30 - 7:00. Student-led conferences allow for students to share goals and strategies, and reflect on their work samples with parents as well as serve as a spark for conversations among student, parent, and teacher. Students are given opportunities to plan and prepare for and practice their presentations. Thank you for supporting your student(s) in this endeavor. This does not preclude you from scheduling a conference with a teacher at any time throughout the year.
Nurse Opening - Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, Nurse Dawson has submitted her letter of resignation, so we are looking for a new nurse. She is graciously working two days per week until we find someone. Please see this nurse job description and pass it along to anyone who might be interested. Ideally, we are looking for someone to work 9-2:00 pm. A cover letter, resume, and references should be sent to Principal Tonya McEnery at tmcenery@stgab.org.
Coming home in the Wednesday yellow envelope:
A hard copy of the Today and Tomorrow Scholarship Information that has been in the newsletter
4th Grade Field Trip Permission Form
3rd Grade Smartphone Pledge and Information
Reminder: Submissions for the newsletter should be sent to Mrs. McEnery and Ms. Schmitt by noon on Monday. Graphics should be a jpg or png. In the subject line, please put "Newsletter".

In case you missed it....2025-2026 Calendar Information from Last Week
We are excited to be able to release our 2025-2026 calendar, so that you are able to plan ahead for next year. A few things to note about creating the calendar:
- We need to meet the Archdiocesan requirement of having 177 days and 1140 hours of instruction.
- The total school day count has 3 snow days embedded.
- Note that the start date is August 18. The Assumption of Mary is a Holy Day and falls on the prior Friday. To avoid a "start, stop, start" like last year, since we are not in school on Holy Days, starting on August 18 makes for an easier transition at the beginning of the school year.
- We will attend school for a half day on Holy Thursday this year instead of having it off. This allows for a greater focus on the Triduum and preparation for Easter.
- Memorial Day is early this year.
- Graduation is the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
- The last day of school is still in May - May 29.
- The calendar was reviewed with team leaders, faculty, the Board of Education and Fr. Molini and adjustments made based on feedback and discussion.
- A more detailed calendar will be sent out as more information is obtained regarding items like testing, PFA activities, etc.
- Here is the 2025-2026 Calendar.

Music
2nd Grade Music
2nd graders are learning all about the Baroque Period by spending time with famous composers like Antonio Vivaldi. Along with listening to some of his popular music, like "The Four Seasons", they practice their geography skills to learn more about where he is from.
3rd Grade Music
Now we play along!
After learning about W. A. Mozart, third graders play along with one of his well known tunes, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik"

Prayer of Saint Augustine
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, That my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, That my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, That I always may be holy.

Students and Fr. Lawson Receive Awards
We would like to recognize the accomplishment of the seventh-grade girls who received their “Mary, the First Disciple” Award at the Cathedral Basilica on Sunday, February 2, 2025. This program enabled them to “Proclaim the greatness of the Lord” and to develop new insights into their faith, grow in their appreciation of Mary and in understanding of themselves.
Congratulations to the following girls who achieved this award:
Mary F., Zoey H., Harper L., Katherine M., Abigail M., Bella M., Maria S., Adelaide W., Elizabeth W.
Congratulations, also, to Father Robert Lawson, who was awarded the St. George emblem at the Religious Awards Presentation. This award is given to members of the laity and clergy, Scouters and non-Scouters alike, who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the spiritual development of Catholic youths through Scouting. Father Lawson continues to dedicate his life to sharing and promoting the Catholic Faith through Scouting and the Parish Community.
