Important First Day Information
Arrival and Dismissal
The safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority. We ask that all of our families remember to follow safety rules when driving in our parking lot and prioritize safety and courteousness. This will ensure our parking lot runs smoothly each day and remains a safe place for all.
1) DO NOT cross in front of driveways - use the crosswalks
2) Follow the directions of the crossing guard.
ARRIVAL
- Students will walk through their designated gate to their classroom line-up spots where supervision is provided.
- Gates will be open at 7:35 am so we ask that students do not arrive prior to 7:30 am as there is no supervision. Students should be in line by 7:45 am to walk into class with their teacher. Please allow for plenty of time for your student to arrive and walk to their class line.
PARKING LOT VALET
The valet line is for students in grades 1-6 only. TK and Kindergarten students must be walked to their designated gate and parents must remain with them until the teacher is present. When using the valet line, cars must pull ALL the way forward and not stop in front of our main gates. Students MUST exit the car on the curbside of the car and must have their backpack, lunch and instruments ready to exit when you pull up. If your child will require your assistance, plan to park in the neighborhood or street parking and walk your child to the front of the school.
Valet drop-offs will take place at the front of the school via our valet line. NO students may be dropped off in any of the staff lots.
Cars will pull up all the way forward and students will exit on the passenger/curbside of the car.
Please respect the handicap parking spots located in the front lot, leaving them for those who need access and assistance.
DISMISSAL
All TK and K students must be picked up at their designated gate by an adult.
1st-6th grade students may be picked up through valet or they may walk on the sidewalk, closest to Brookhaven Ave, at the front of the school to meet their parent/guardian.
Parents of walkers may wait in the grassy area on Brookhaven Ave. in front of the school and should not come onto campus unless they have an appointment with the teacher or need to stop in the office.
Keep the sidewalk clear to allow students to pass.
Students in valet will be escorted to a safe line-up spot and wait to be called to their valet pick-up number. Cars will be loaded twelve at a time. To expedite this process, please make a sign with your student’s name and grade and place it on the passenger side of your dashboard. You may include multiple children on one sign.
Do not park or stop or unload in the bus zone on Brookhaven Ave.
There are NO U-TURNS permitted along Brookhaven Avenue at any spot.
During arrival and dismissal, all cars exiting the parking lot MUST turn right. During arrival and dismissal, we have designated both lanes as a right turn lane, alternating one car at a time.
To ensure everyone's’ safety, please be aware and courteous as you drive through and exit the parking lot. To ensure safety, we ask that you not use your cell phone while driving in our parking lot.
Following dismissal, students MUST GO DIRECTLY HOME. THE SCHOOL DOES NOT PROVIDE SUPERVISION AFTER SCHOOL HOURS. Parents will be notified when students remain at school past the 2:30 PM guideline. (Exceptions will be for Homework Club and/or after school enrichment programs) After the third notification, the district Student Services office may be contacted. If a parent is detained from picking up a child on time, the parent must notify the school as soon as possible.
