A Message From Mrs. O'Brien
Dear Lincoln Early Learning Center Families,
I hope you’re all doing well! I’m excited to share some important updates and upcoming events as we continue our journey through the school year.
This week, our Mundelein and Fremont students participated in their bus evacuation drill, and they did a fantastic job following directions and practicing how to stay safe in case of an emergency. These drills are an essential part of our safety procedures, and we’re proud of how well the children responded.
Looking ahead, Parent-Teacher Conferences for Mundelein School District will be taking place next week. This will be a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with teachers and discuss your child’s progress so far this year. For Fremont, Hawthorn and Tri-District families, conferences will be held before the Thanksgiving break, and more details will be provided as those dates approach. We look forward to celebrating your child’s growth together!
Additionally, a quick reminder about the upcoming Mobile Dentist visit from Smile Illinois. If you would like your child to receive dental care at school, please make sure to sign up at www.myschooldentist.com or scan the bar code below for more information. This is a convenient way to ensure your child’s dental health is being cared for without missing time in the classroom.
Lastly, as we continue to work together this school year, I want to emphasize our theme, "Proud to ROAR Together." Whether it's during safety drills, classroom activities, or parent-teacher meetings, we are so proud of the teamwork and dedication that makes our school such a wonderful place for learning and growth.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement!
Warm regards,
Katie O’Brien

A Note from the Health Office
Pertussis Notification
We want to inform you that yesterday evening our school was contacted by the Lake County Health Department regarding a confirmed case of Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Pertussis is caused by a bacterium that infects the mouth, nose, and throat and spreads through the air by coughing, sneezing, and talking. Symptoms include a cough which may present as coughing “fits” (mild or severe with gagging or vomiting) with little or no fever. Those with Pertussis are most contagious during the first two weeks after the cough starts.
As a precaution and in cooperation with Lake County’s recommendations, we are sending a Pertussis notification to keep you informed. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are always our top priority, and we will continue to take appropriate measures to ensure a healthy environment for everyone. Please use the links below to access more information from the Lake County Health Department.
Pertussis Notification (English)
Pneumonia Notification
We want to inform you Lincoln Early Learning Center has a confirmed case of Pneumonia. Pneumonia is a lung infection that can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi. Symptoms start off mild but can become severe and require a hospital visit. The germ spreads through the air when someone with it coughs, sneezes or talks. It also spreads when we touch things like doorknobs or desks with our hands and then touch our mouths. Pneumonia can occur in anyone but is often seen in young adults and young children. Please use the link below to access more information from the Lake County Health Department.
Absences
If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors’ appointments or vacation, please contact us at Lincoln at 847-949-2720. Please notify the school office by 9:30 a.m. the day of the absence to leave a recorded message regarding your child's absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task and we greatly appreciate your prompt attention.
Medical Forms
Annual Physical Examinations are required within the first 30 days of entering preschool. All forms can be emailed, faxed, or brought in with your student. If we do not receive your child’s physical, your child will be excluded from school and cannot return to school until submitted. Per IL State Law we must have a child’s physical by October 15 or within 30 days of starting preschool.
Illness and Injuries
Please remember that any child with a fever should stay home until they have been fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication, for at least 24 hours. Students should also remain home if they are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea. Students may NOT return to school for at least 24 hours after the last episode.
**We are seeing an increase in nurse office visits with sick students. It is imperative that the health office has current telephone numbers for parents and designated emergency contact persons. You are responsible for someone picking your child up within 30 minutes of the call.**
Medications
All medications, feeding, and treatment supplies are to be supplied by the parent per school policy.
Doctor’s orders for medications, feedings, and treatments are required at the beginning of each school year. The school nurse will not accept or administer any medications (including over the counter medications) or perform nursing services or treatments without a doctor’s order. Please do not send medication to school in your child's backpack. All medication must be brought to school by a parent or guardian.
Any questions related to the above health office guidelines should be directed to the health office staff.

ELFP Community Forum
We would like to thank all of our community members who came out to Fremont Intermediate School Thursday night as the Steering Committee presented the recommendation for our Educational Long-Range Facility Plan (ELFP). This plan will serve as a roadmap for the future of our facilities over the next 20 years. It is important that this plan be representative of our community’s priorities. Our next steps include presenting the ELFP to our staff for feedback next week before taking the recommendation to the Board of Education at its November 18 meeting.
