Principal's Message
Hello Diley families,
We are looking forward to 2025 and making this the best year yet when it comes to reaching our goals!
As you may be aware, currently all classes are working on their Reading and Math i-Ready winter diagnostic assessments. Once completed, students will be receiving their diagnostic data to share with you at home. Please be on the lookout for this. This is known as the i-Ready family report. The report allows you to see how your student has grown between the first and second diagnostic assessments. Students will be focusing on trying to meet their stretch growth on the report. The stretch growth goal is the most important aspect because it means the student is either closing in gaps or advancing in their learning. The typical growth line represents what your student should grow in a year. I will post more information below about i-Ready to help families at the bottom of this message.
Level Up Challenge
Diley will be focusing on leveling up academically and behaviorally to start off 2025!. Why? At PLSD and DMS we believe it takes a partnership with the community in helping develop our students to succeed. The intent of the plan is to inform everyone, so the whole community can play a role in helping our students grow academically and emotionally. To help motivate our students we will be running a “Are you ready for i-Ready Challenge” starting on 2/10/25. We will also continue focusing on our student’s sense of belonging and emotional regulation through various activities and lessons. This includes reviewing building expectations when it comes to following our Diley P.R.I.D.E. Matrix.
P = Positive
R = Responsible
I = Innovative
D = Driven
E = Engaged
How can you help?
Throughout the challenge we will be sending weekly messages with information about i-Ready and resources that can help your student at home be successful. This is a great time to talk with your student and see how i-Ready is going. Make goals together based on your student’s typical and stretch goals. It could provide you and your student a chance to have some fun with the challenge by creating goals and challenges at home. But the most important thing we all can do is encourage our students to keep trying and persevere even when the work is challenging. This is when learning really takes place. Please be on the lookout for more information about the “Are you ready for i-Ready” challenge when we get closer to the February 10th date. Below you will find some resources for i-Ready.

Immunization Requirements for Students Entering Grade 7
Per the Ohio Department of Health, all students entering grade 7 must show proof of vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap vaccine) and meningococcal disease (MCV4 vaccine). You may take this letter with you to your doctor to use as documentation of these vaccinations, or you may submit an immunization report with the dates of both vaccinations. Please return this documentation as soon as possible to your child’s school nurse. If this is not provided during the grade 6 school year, you will need to send this information to the junior high that your child will attend prior to the beginning of the next school year. The middle school nurses will forward all immunization documentation received to the junior high nurses at the end of this year. Your student will not be able to start school until documentation of the required vaccines or a signed exemption form are on file.

HB432 (formerly SB29) Revisions & Annual Technology Updates
Dear Families,
This email serves as a follow-up to the communication sent to all Pickerington Local School District families on October 24, 2024, regarding Senate Bill (SB) 29. The bill, now known as House Bill (HB) 432, has undergone significant changes. Below, we’ve outlined the recent revisions and included important reminders about student information and technology updates.
Key Updates to HB432 (formerly SB29):
Reduced Monitoring Notifications:
Recent changes have reduced the number of notifications school districts are required to send regarding student monitoring activities.Elimination of Routine Monitoring Notifications:
Notifications are no longer required for general monitoring of student activities used for instructional purposes.
For more details on the revised HB432, Click Here: [HB432 Full Version].
Reminder on Sharing Student Information
It’s essential to remain vigilant about sharing student information, particularly on social media or other platforms.
Parental Consent: No personally identifiable student information, including details from education records, should be shared without the explicit, written consent of a parent or guardian.
Social Media Posts: Even in password-protected groups, sharing student images, videos, or other information without proper consent is a violation of state and federal regulations, as well as board policy.
If you have questions about these limitations, please don’t hesitate to reach out for clarification.
If you prefer that your child’s photo, voice, or other “school directory” information not be used by the District or school on its communication platforms, please notify your child's school to OPT OUT.
Maintaining accurate contact information ensures that you receive timely updates and important notifications. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students and schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kara Jackson
