Principal's Message
Thank you to all the families that attended our conferences to bring your children and engage in a conversation about your child’s learning and the progress that they’re making. Despite the weather not being ideal and a lot of competing events, we had a good turnout. Also, thank you to the families that donated food for teachers to grab on the go those two busy evenings. It’s much appreciated!
TMSS also hosted a March grad meeting that was well attended. Be sure to share your contact information with the family grad fundraising committee at fundraisingtmssgrad@gmail.com You should have received information about donations to help pay for videographer/photographer and the yard signs for the park. You’ll want to be on their email list for important information. Just to reiterate, the school graduation ceremony is Friday, June 27th at 1:00 in the Auditorium. Doors open at noon.
Our School Community Council is attempting to engage TMSS families to help with supporting youth through the digital age. Thank you to our SCC, who hired Laura Lawrence to share her presentation to both our middle years’ and high school students. Laura also stayed for a parent presentation later that evening with many good ideas as to set up boundaries and parent teens with all the access to the internet that they each have.
A group of grade 12 students organized our March pep rally for all students. Our football team received their silver medal banner and the grade twelves topped off their grad fundraising with a pie-to-the-face event. The pep rally involved a lot of fun competitions amongst the grades that were well organized and energizing. What a great way to break up the long month of March!
With plans for the 2025-26 school year underway, we will be starting high school course selection. Families have been invited to evening meetings to hear Mrs. Lee present how high school credits work and what options students have. By June, next year’s schedules will be released. Be sure to take in our presentations so you are well informed!
April is a busy month in the RECplex with both Dance Experience and the Rambler Rodeo. Be sure to communicate with the school when your child will be out of classes, but please understand that with an Edsby planned absence, your child is supervised by you rather than just wandering through the trade fair or watching dance.
We appreciate your support,
Carmen Messer
For this month's Grade 6 GRIT, we would like to recognize Aaron Clark-Deforest. Aaron consistently demonstrates growth, resilience, integrity, and togetherness in his grade 6 classroom. He helps his peers, shows kindness to everyone, and is willing to work with all members of our class. He is a well-organized student who is willing to complete his best work on a daily basis. Keep up the great work Aaron!
Jaelynn Howse is the recipient of the Grade 7 GRIT award for April. Jaelynn has shown a lot of growth this year as she is becoming more involved in whole class discussion and will share her ideas with the group when brainstorming or solving math questions. Jaelynn is good at using her resources to solve questions before she asks for help, but is also not afraid of asking for help, as she has high standards for her academics. When giving Jaelynn feedback, she will always make the necessary improvements and will often laugh at her mistakes, she isn’t one to get discouraged if she doesn’t succeed on the first attempt. Jaelynn has been very organized since the beginning of the year by being prepared for class and ready for learning on time, and has had fantastic attendance. Keep up the great work, Jaelynn!
This month's Grade 8 G.R.I.T. Award winner is Bryn Woolley. Bryn shows many traits of our school mantra on a daily basis. She works very hard in the classroom to ensure she maintains a grade level of her expectation, always willing to ask for help when needed, but also willing to lend a helping hand when asked. She is also devoted to her athletics, being involved competitively in Basketball, Volleyball (school and club), Baseball, and Badminton. Keep up the great work, Bryn!
This month's Grade 9 G.R.I.T. award goes to Emma-Leigh Kinaschuk. Emma-Leigh consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards her learning. She is respectful and kind to all her classmates, always including everyone and making sure no one feels left out. Emma-Leigh is not afraid to ask questions when she doesn't understand something, showing her commitment to improving and her willingness to grow. Her dedication and kindness make her a true role model for others. Congratulations, Emma-Leigh!
The Grade 10 GRIT award goes to Isabella Allan! Isabella stands out for her quiet determination, strong work ethic, and, most of all, her integrity. She consistently does the right thing, even when no one is watching, and holds herself to a high standard in everything she takes on. Whether she is lending a hand in class or putting in time at the rink, Isabella remains focused, respectful, and committed to giving her best. Her dedication and strong sense of character make her a truly deserving recipient of this award. Congrats, Isabella
In recognition of his Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Togetherness, we acknowledge Adrian Gavino for the Grade 11 GRIT Award. Adrian has demonstrated remarkable growth, pushing himself to improve academically, athletically, musically and personally. His willingness to learn from challenges and embrace new opportunities has been inspiring to those around him. His resilience has shone through. Despite the difficulties, he persevered with determination and a positive attitude, proving that setbacks are simply stepping stones to success. With integrity, he has consistently upheld a sense of decency, treating peers and teachers with respect and honesty. His commitment to doing what is right, even when no one is watching, makes him a role model at TMSS. And finally, his sense of togetherness has fostered a spirit of unity among classmates. Whether offering support, encouragement, or simply a kind word, he has shown that success is not only individual, but collective, as well. Congratulations to Adrian!
This month's Grade 12 GRIT winner is a dedicated student who excels both in the classroom and in her extracurricular activities. When she isn't performing salchows on the ice, competing fiercely on the basketball court, or hitting bullseyes in archery, she demonstrates exceptional commitment to her academic work. As if balancing such a demanding schedule weren't challenging enough, she also contributes to the SRC and coaches skating and softball. Congratulations to Katelyn Mooney for being this month's recipient!
The teachers of TMSS would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the parents who have generously donated soup, cookies and buns for the evenings of the Student Led Conferences. Your kindness is so appreciated!

Grade 7 Band Trip
Ms. Will's grade 7 band students travelled to Regina on March 25 and 26th to perform in the Regina Optimist festival at the Conexus Art Centre. They also played laser tag went to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and the Saskatchewan Science center. Their performance was gold and this group of talented musicians are already looking forward to next year's trip.
TMSS would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to Mr. Gilmar Razon, Mrs. Aillene Gavino, and the staff at Tisdale A&W for their amazing donation to the TMSS Basketball program!
For months, Tisdale A&W asked customers to round up their order to the nearest dollar, collecting the extra money for our TMSS Basketball athletes. This amounted to an AMAZING $945.82. This money will help greatly with uniforms, travel costs and referees!
Thank you, also, to customers who kindly donated their change. We appreciate you!
Table Tennis
TMSS will be cheering on Tornados Nathan Hernandez and Chloe Hernandez, who are competing in the 2025 Provincial Table Tennis School Championships. The tournament takes place on April 4-5 at Tommy Douglas Collegiate in Saskatoon. Good Luck, Tornados!
2023-24 Football
At the March pep rally, our 2023-24 Football team was presented with their official banner to celebrate their silver medal finish in last year's very successful season. Way to go, Tornados! TMSS is proud!
On Wednesday, March 15 our TMSS SCC sponsored a "Tech Talk" with Laura Lawrence. Laura spoke to our students during the school day, and also offered an evening presentation for parents. Thank you to Laura who shed light on a serious subject with this eye-opening presentation. She has provided the resource linked below.
Did You Know?
-Youth are spending on average 6-8 hours a day on digital devices. Research shows this is having a significant impact on their mental health, behavior, focus, learning, sleep, emotional development, and development of addiction at a young age.
-if your child has a smartphone, it’s not IF they’ll experience an online harm, it’s ‘when’. -3 or more hours a day spent on social media/gaming DOUBLES a youth’s risk of developing anxiety or depression. Anxiety rates have increased by 150% in youth since the introduction of the smartphone and rates of self-harm, eating disorders and suicide have risen drastically as well.
-Experts say that if your child has an iphone and access to gaming platforms or social media they will be solicited at least ONCE by an online predator. Online luring in Saskatchewan has increased 400% since 2021 -There are 500,000 online predators DAILY that share the same online spaces as youth. If an app has a direct message component, there are predators present.
