The Buzz
Summer Term - 13th June 2024
Message from the Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers
Firstly, as you know HJS were very pleased to welcome the Ofsted team to the school on Tuesday morning. Day one saw four inspectors looking at Reading, Mathematics, Geography and Art and during day two the team looked at Science and PE. They visited lessons, the playground and reviewed books, spoke to a great many of the children, staff and governors; really getting to understand what makes the school tick.
I want to say a huge thank you for the amount of support HJS has received from you, our wonderful parent community. The kind words, treats and supportive messages have been overwhelming and have meant so much to the staff during the two days.
The Ofsted Parent View website showed 324 responses and 100% agreed that their child was safe in school, 99% agreed that the school made sure that the children behave well and 98% would recommend the school to a friend which is particularly pleasing.
The children of HJS have played their part brilliantly as we knew they would; speaking honestly and with conviction about how they feel about their school.
I must now take this opportunity to thank all of the staff who have absolutely gone above and beyond during this inspection. They have certainly shown the inspection team the principles, ethos and high expectations we demonstrate each and every day at HJS.
The school will receive the draft report within 18 working days for us to comment upon and then the final report will hopefully be with us before the end of term. I am looking forward to sharing the outcome with the school community once I am able.
We always knew this week would be extra busy as we were holding our aspiration week. We were delighted that across HPP we had such a tremendous response to our requests for speakers and the children from Nursery to year 6 have certainly been inspired for the future. Next week's Buzz will include an aspiration special.
Finally, we are planning to send out welcome emails to parents from Arbor tomorrow, so please look out for this and log in, as we will be using Arbor to send out communication to parents going forward. The email will come directly from Arbor. We will also send out a ParentHub when we have sent out the Arbor welcome email, which will contain instructions on what you need to do.
The staff are looking forward to a relaxing weekend and I wish you the same.
Helen Lockey
