We'd like to thank our staff for making it a fun week. We did an Underground Spirit Week (adults only). Thursday was beach themed. On Friday, staff drank out of anything but a cup!

The SUNY Cortland Summer Literacy Tutoring Program will begin Monday, June 30, 2025 and end Friday, August 1, 2025.

There is no fee for this program.

The 9-12th grade students had a great learning experience on Tuesday with our DWI Event. Throughout the day, students were able to see a mock DWI crash. Through this, students got an up-close look at how various agencies work together to respond to a crash. Thank you to the following agencies, and Mr. Parker for the incredibly realistic makeup - your help really opened our students' eyes to the devastation a DWI crash causes:

• State Police
• Sheriff's Office
• Avoca Fire Dept.
• EMS
• 911
• LifeNet of NY 7-7
• Kim Clark
• District Attorney, Brooks Baker

Our students spent the afternoon rotating through several stations with more hands-on, engaging experiences ranging from:

• A seat belt convincer (strapping students into a device that delivers the sensation of a car crash at 7 MPH)
• Go-carts and pedal carts (having students weave through courses)
• Sobriety Test & Education (students taking a field sobriety test with goggles that simulate impairments)
• Emilee's Trailer (students hearing from Kim Clark about the devastating tragedy of Emilee and her friends - even seeing the wreckage in person)
• Two simulators (students trying to successfully drive while texting on their phone and driving while impaired)

Thanks once again to the State Police, Sheriff's Office, and Save a Life Tour for running these various stations for our students.

Student's honed in on literacy in their agriculture class last week by closely following and reciting a recipe for pumpkin pie!

This event will run from 9am to 11am on April 5th, 2025 and features a campus-wide scavenger hunt with the opportunity to win a $250 gift card.
