Congratulations!
Outstanding Job Mr. Proctor!
Mr. Kevin Proctor was recognized on October 14th as Building Service Worker of the Year during a county In-service. He was nominated by Bruce Washington, Operations Foreman and Ms. April Murphy, Supervisor of Operations. Ms. Murphy stated, "Mr. Proctor's devotion to St. Charles High School is apparent and we wanted him to know the team from Operations appreciates his hard work and dedication to the school community." Congratulations Mr. Proctor on a job well done! We appreciate your dedication to the staff and students at St. Charles High School. You exemplify true Spartan Pride!
Hooray Mr. Krupa!
Mr. Krupa was one of three Charles County Recipients of the SHAPE Maryland Simon McNeely Award. Each year, Maryland’s local education agencies nominate educators, community partners, and advocates for awards celebrating excellence in healthful living, leadership, advocacy, and service within the health and physical education fields. Recently, the Society for Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Maryland announced the recipients of its 2024 health and physical education awards. Among the honorees was Mr. Kyle Krupa, one of 34 educators representing 11 Maryland counties, who received the prestigious Simon McNeely Award. This award honors educators who have made significant contributions to teaching practices, demonstrated community involvement, and shown leadership. Named after Mr. Simon McNeely—a special education teacher, long-standing member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness, and a member of both the U.S. and International Olympic Committees—the award celebrates individuals embodying his spirit of service and dedication to healthful living. The ceremony took place on Saturday, October 26th at the Baltimore Sheraton.

Thank You!
Thank you to our Spartan community for coming out to celebrate our annual HallowSPARTANween event last night. A special thank you to all our guests who brought non-perishable food donations to help our Spartan community with holiday baskets.
What's Happening
World Language
The World Language Department compared and contrasted Halloween with DÃa de Muertos and La Toussaint. Students completed cultural readings in the target language depending on level and completed bingo and other games in the target language. This allowed students to compare traditions in the United States with traditions in the Hispanic and Francophone cultures. Students gained a deep understanding of the Hispanic and Francophone cultures while looking at different traditions and holidays through a cultural lens.

Reminders
- Attendance: School starts at 7:25am, at which time students must be physically present in their classes or be marked absent/tardy. Absences also affect eligibility in competitive sports. When your child is absent/tardy please email your note to SCHSAttendance@ccboe.com. Check out our new Attendance page located on our school website. Click here for details about student absences and tardy policy. All attendance notes should be emailed to SCHSAttendance@ccboe.com.
- Early Dismissal: Student dismissal must take place no later than 1:45pm to ensure minimum disruption to our regular dismissal. If a birth parent or legal guardian (appointed by the courts) is sending someone to pick up his/her child early from school for any reason, he/she must send a written note/email indicating who will be picking up the student and giving consent. Upon receiving the note from the birth parent or legal guardian, the school will then verify its authenticity and check ID of the adult who signs the student out of the building; see the St Charles High School Student Handbook.
- Emergency Contact: Listing an emergency contact does not allow the individual to pick up a student at any given time in a non-emergency situation without prior written authorization from the birth parent/legal guardian (per the Charles County Public Schools Handbook: Emergency Card (2024-2025) Maria V. Navarro, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools).
- Deliveries: Outside deliveries for students are prohibited. Per the county's parent handbook, students are not allowed to receive outside food deliveries. Deliveries from Grub Hub, Door Dash, Uber Eats, Food Scooter, etc. Food deliveries of any kind will be turned away by our main office staff. Deliveries of balloons, cakes, flowers, etc. for students will be stored in the main office until dismissal.
- MySchoolBucks: Use the My School Bucks prepayment system to add funds to your child's lunch account. We offer free breakfast to all students each school day from 7:10-7:35 am. The application for free-and reduced-price meals is now available. Benefits secured through the application would apply for the 2024-2025 school year. Families can also receive other benefits by completing the application, on the CCPS website.
