The Principal's Corner
Dear School 6 Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we wrap up January and continue to build momentum in the new year. Our Sixers are off to a fantastic start, showing kindness and respect in everything they do. It’s inspiring to see them living our school’s values: “Sixers show respect and kindness every day, in every way!”
So far this month, we celebrated the 80th day of school. Next week, we'll be celebrating the 90th day! This year is flying! Soon, we will be counting down to Spring Break! Until then, we have a great deal of learning and fun to be had! Our February calendar of events will be shared with you all by January 28th! Please be on the look-out!
Thank you for ensuring that your children arrive at school on time and in uniform. Your support and collaboration is making School #6 a supportive and thriving place for all.
Warm regards,
Dr. Mendez

Introducing... School 6's Student Council
The Student Council is a club for students who are passionate about improving our school, boosting school spirit, and communicating with the student body. Students are led by club advisor and 5th grade teacher, Mr. Prado. The students meet once a week to share ideas concerning fundraisers, activities, and school spirit days. They are looking into options such as "Silly String a Teacher" or "Student/Teacher Swap Out Day". Stay tuned to hear and see what they accomplish!

Health and Wellness Reminders from Nurse Falk
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we are in the midst of flu season, we want to ensure that our school remains a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff. With many viruses circulating in our community, it is important that we all work together to reduce the spread of illness.
Please DO NOT send your child to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
Fever (temperature of 100.4F or higher)
Call the nurse if you need a thermometer.Runny nose
Cough
Body aches
Vomiting
Diarrhea
If your child shows any of these symptoms, they should stay home until they are symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. This allows them to recover fully and helps protect others from becoming ill.
We understand the challenges of managing illness during the school year, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy. If you have any questions or need guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school nurse.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Warm Regards,
Nurse Falk

Parent Power-Up
Early Pick Up
Many parents are informing teachers of Early Pick Ups or Children Not Attending Aftercare via Class Dojo the day of. Please note that teachers are teaching and may not get to check emails or messages sent via Class Dojo.
Please be aware of the following, noted in the Elementary School Handbook page 7: Parents requesting their child be excused from school before the school day ends must send written verification in advance signifying the reason, time, and who will pick up the student.
If an emergency occurs, and a child cannot attend aftercare or needs to be picked up early, please contact the School Secretary. Do not inform teachers via Class Dojo as you risk the possibility that teachers will not get the message on time.
