Hello JCE Families,
We had a fantastic week at school! Our hearts were full as we celebrated Mrs. Tyer all week long with plenty of hugs, kind words, and positivity. She is truly an invaluable part of our JCE family, and it was wonderful to see how much she means to our students and staff. 💙
Big Reminder: Monday is our 100th Day of School! 🎉 We can’t wait to see all of the “elderly folks” walking our halls—get ready for some gray hair, walkers, and lots of laughs! Mr. Pendley and I are already planning to age a few years over the weekend... LOL!
We’re excited to kick off next week with fun and creativity. Thanks for being a part of our amazing JCE community!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks,
Kara Wendel

TryDay Friday was a huge success! We had the pleasure of trying an Ippert Family Tradition—homemade chicken and dumplings! 🍲 These sweet and talented girls went home last night, rolled up their sleeves, and made this delicious, comforting dish completely from scratch. The dumplings were perfectly fluffy, and the chicken was tender and flavorful, all coming together in a rich, savory broth that warmed our hearts.
We are so grateful for their hard work, creativity, and willingness to share a special family recipe with us. It was amazing to see our students not only embrace tradition but also bring a piece of their family history into our JCE family. 💙 #JCEStrong #TryDayFriday

Throughout the week, we found fun and creative ways to show our appreciation for all that she does. Honoring Black History Month
Our amazing 1st and 3rd-grade teachers at Coleman Elementary have transformed our reading platform area into a vibrant celebration of Black History Month! Their thoughtful decorations honor two pivotal figures in American history: Ruby Bridges and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Ruby Bridges made history in 1960 as the first African American child to integrate an all-white elementary school in the South at just six years old. Her bravery paved the way for future generations, showing incredible courage in the face of adversity.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a key leader in the Civil Rights Movement, is remembered for his commitment to nonviolent activism and his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, which continues to inspire the fight for equality today.
This beautifully decorated space not only honors their legacies but also serves as an inspiring learning environment for our students to engage with these powerful stories of perseverance and hope. Thank you to our dedicated teachers for bringing history to life in such a meaningful way!

Updated Arrival and Dismissal Video
Bus Riders will be dropped off in the front along with Daycare and Specialized programs
All car riders including our Pre-K students will be dropped off in the back carline. Please give us grace and have patience with our dismissal on the first few days! We have all of our staff on duty to help, but it takes time to get to know students, families, and cars.
Please make sure your car tags are visible when picking your child up. If you don’t have your car tag, you will be asked to drive around to the front of the building to show your driver's license to pick up your child. Once again, safety and security is our number one priority!
Unfortunately due to safety reasons, we can’t allow parents to walk up to the front or the back of the school to pick up their child.
Please be aware that the parking lots surrounding the school are private property and are not designated for school parking or drop-offs. To ensure the safety and respect of our community, we kindly ask that you use the designated school parking areas for all school-related activities.

Safe Snack Guide Link: https://custom.snacksafely.com/guide/05478ADB
This year we will be permitting birthday treats on campus; however, the following guidelines must be followed in order to keep all of our students safe here at JCE.
Birthday treats must be prepackaged, all students must be included, and must accommodate allergies within the students classroom.
Parents must fill out and submit a request form notifying Nurse Delaney 7 days prior to your date of delivery. This form will ask for the proposed treat and brand that will be brought to school to ensure that it is safe for all students within your child's class. The form is linked in the Coleman Connection, the Nurse page of the Jean Coleman website and posted in the front office.
Nurse Delaney will contact you within 2 school days notifying you if your requested treat was approved or denied. If denied, Nurse Delaney will provide you with alternative options for your child's class.
We have created a Coleman Safe Snack Guide that has compiled a list of foods and brands that do not contain the most common allergens that are to be avoided. Please do not hesitate to contact Nurse Delaney with any questions regarding safe options. The guide is linked here in the Coleman Connection as well as the Nurse page on the Jean Coleman website.
Please know that the safety of each and every student is our top priority. While we recognize that birthday celebrations are a fun and important part of student life, we are committed to ensuring that these activities do not impact or compromise this priority. We have implemented guidelines to balance joyful celebrations with the necessary safety measures, so every student can enjoy their special day without any concerns.
