Letter from the Principal
Greetings and Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year,
Can you believe it, we are already coming to the end of week two! Many exciting events have taken place:
A field trip to MATC’s Ropes Course
Our first successful Community Talks
Caregiver communication is building
Students are enthralled in the workshops they have chosen!
As a reminder, students that are driving should review this information. It is important for our student drivers to continue to be safe for themselves and others in our parking lots and on the roads. Please note that students that do not park in the designated student parking session:
First offense- a verbal warning and ask to move their vehicle to the proper area
Second offense- parent communication
Ongoing offenses will be discussed with families and hopes of a resolution
Scholars should be prepared to learn everyday! Chromebooks should be with students daily. To reduce students transporting their wonderful Chromebooks they have the opportunity to leave the CB’s at PPA to be charged. Those that turned in Chromebooks will be able to pick them up from the main office. We will not issue a Chromebook to students if they have one or more already checked out to them. Please have your scholar return any damaged Chromebooks to the main office. We have a limited number of Chromebooks that students may use as loaners but that is on a first come basis.
Child care information!
Teddy’s Place at PPA is underway!!!!! If you are not aware.. Teddy’s Place is a childcare facility in Sun Prairie that will have a place in PPA in support of our school-aged parents. We are truly excited to have an opportunity to support students and remove barriers.
Upcoming dates:
*September 20th-Picture Day
*September 24th-PreACT Testing
I look forward to sharing more communication with our PPA community!!!
Be well,
Ms. Sconiers

Art in Nature: A Blossoming Adventure With Kay Stephan
Embracing the Beauty of Nature Through Art
We have had a great start to our Art in Nature class! This is where students’ creativity meets the great outdoors. This week, we're diving into the world of floral studies, inspired by the iconic style of Georgia O'Keeffe.
Georgia O'Keeffe is renowned for her large-scale paintings of flowers, which often featured close-up views and vibrant colors. Her work captured the delicate beauty and intricate details of nature.
As we explore the natural world around us, we'll be looking for flowers that inspire us. We'll learn about different techniques for capturing the essence of a flower on paper or canvas. From realistic depictions to abstract interpretations, there's no limit to our artistic expression.
Atmosphere and Weather! With Cindy Milbrath
Scholars have been learning about the layers of the atmosphere. Over the next few weeks, we will be using this background knowledge to dive deeper into weather, and what physical forces drive the climate on our planet. I’m looking forward to seeing the creative projects and smart work that our scholars create.
Legos
In the Lego workshops students are working in small groups to create some pretty cool lego sets! Students are building communication skills and persevering when things get tough or confusing.
Rope course
Several students attended the Ropes Course at Madison College this week. It was a great trip to build confidence and learn how to take safe risks.
JAG (Job’s of America Graduates)Notes:
The past two weeks in JAG we’ve been focusing on soft skills and team building. Ask your scholar what one soft skill is. 🙂 I’ve also had some students working really hard on putting cribs together for the childcare that we will have in PPA. It took a lot of collaboration, learning to read directions, and determination but they accomplished the task!! I’ve also been working with their students on what career they would like to pursue and what dreams they have.
GEDO Happenings:
I’m looking forward to working with all of our GEDO2 students this year. Reminder: GEDO2 runs each day from 9:00-12:00 (doors open at 8:30). Students can eat lunch afterwards if they’d like, in which case they’d be done at 12:35.
-Ryan Lenard
Abeyance Happenings:
For those participating in abeyance, it is at PPA from 1:00-3:00, Monday through Thursdays (during days we have school). There is no school for abeyance students on Fridays.
