PUSD Continuing Registration
Design39Families:
PUSD 2024-2025 Continuing Student Registration is open!
Online Continuing Student Registration will be open from March 1- March 31, 2024. We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2024-2025 school year. This annual digital process allows a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.
Continuing Registration Steps:
Login and complete the digital registration packet via the online registration portal found here.
Review and complete any required forms located at the conclusion of the process. A packet is not considered finalized until this step is completed.
Please note: MEDICATION FORMS or ADDITIONAL SIGNED SITE SPECIFIC FORMS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED UNTIL SCHOOL BEGINS IN AUGUST FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.

Welcome Marvin!
D39C is elated to welcome Marvin Davis to serve as our new campus supervisor. Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Marvin spent his formative years in San Diego as part of a military family. Following his service as a United States Marine Corps veteran, Marvin has amassed 17 years of valuable experience in security and law enforcement. Presently, he holds the position of Director of Security at USGI Security, overseeing PM operations.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Marvin has a diverse set of interests. He successfully owned and operated a community barbershop for four years, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Proudly, he is a parent to two daughters currently attending San Diego State University and a son who graduated from UCLA, delving into the tech industry.
Beyond his career and family roles, Marvin finds joy in various hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and riding horses. He humorously claims the title of "Grill Master," adding a touch of lightness to his multifaceted personality, and should fit right in amongst the Traeger-loving Design Facilitators at D39C.
Looking ahead, Marvin's career goals align with his passion for mentorship and community service. His aspirations include guiding and assisting young individuals in realizing and surpassing their potential while contributing meaningfully to their communities.
Welcome to D39C, Marvin. You belong here.

Nowruz, Persian New Year
On Tuesday, March 19, precisely at 8:06 pm, the celebration marking the transition from winter to spring takes place. This special occasion is observed globally, especially by Persians, as they celebrate Nowruz, which translates to "a new day." The centerpiece of Nowruz festivities is the 'haftseen' table, adorned with various elements symbolizing concepts such as light, new beginnings, health, patience, wisdom, prosperity, beauty, and more. Each item on the table begins with the letter 's' in Farsi, and 'haft' signifies seven, making 'haftseen' the representation of seven 's' elements.
Persians joyously welcome the new year, gathering with family and friends to share in the celebration. The haftseen table remains set for 13 days, and on the 13th day, all the items are put away until the following year. Notably, the 'sabzeh' (greens or sprouts) is one of the elements on the table, and it grows in the days leading up to the new year. On the 13th day, the sprouts are tied in a knot, a wish is made, and they are returned to nature in running water.
To enrich the understanding of this tradition, a table will be set up in the Welcome Center, featuring a description and meaning of all the items. As we embrace the beginning of spring, take a moment to appreciate this cultural celebration, and if you have friends who observe Nowruz, extend warm wishes for a Happy Nowruz!
Neurodiversity Celebration Week
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an annual event dedicated to promoting awareness, understanding, and acceptance of neurodiversity within the broader community. Celebrated globally, this week serves as a platform to highlight the diverse range of neurological differences, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions. The aim is to foster a culture that values neurodivergent individuals for their unique perspectives and abilities, challenging traditional notions of "normalcy" and embracing the richness that neurodiversity brings to society. Through various events, discussions, and educational initiatives, Neurodiversity Celebration Week encourages dialogue, empathy, and inclusion, fostering an environment where individuals of all neurotypes can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the world.
Happy St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day, celebrated annually on March 17th, is a cultural and religious holiday that honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. While it has religious origins commemorating the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, the day has evolved into a vibrant and widely celebrated cultural festival. It is particularly popular in Ireland and among the Irish diaspora, with festivities extending to various parts of the world.
One of the hallmark features of St. Patrick's Day is the widespread use of the color green, symbolizing the lush landscapes of Ireland. Parades, concerts, and public events are organized in many cities, often featuring traditional Irish music, dance, and cuisine. The shamrock, a three-leaved clover, is a significant symbol associated with St. Patrick, and many people wear it as a decorative accessory during the celebrations. Additionally, St. Patrick's Day is often a time for people to come together at community gatherings, or family celebrations, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared cultural heritage among those who participate in the festivities.
AVID Tip of the Week
The AVID Tip of the Week is to participate in Socratic Seminars.
Participating in Socratic Seminars provides students with a valuable opportunity to develop critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills. By engaging in these student-led discussions, students learn to articulate their thoughts clearly, defend their opinions with evidence, and actively listen to and respect the perspectives of their peers. The Socratic method encourages open-ended questioning and exploration of ideas, fostering a deeper understanding of complex concepts. This practice not only enhances their academic abilities but also prepares them for real-world scenarios where effective communication and critical thinking are essential.
Moreover, Socratic Seminars contribute to the development of a collaborative and inclusive classroom culture. Students gain experience in respectfully challenging and being challenged by their classmates, creating an environment that values diverse viewpoints. This fosters a sense of intellectual curiosity and promotes active participation in the learning process. Through Socratic Seminars, students not only refine their cognitive skills but also build interpersonal skills, preparing them for future academic endeavors, professional settings, and civic engagement where the ability to engage in thoughtful and respectful dialogue is crucial.

Attendance and OCIS Contracts: If you have a student who will not be in class for 5-14 days, please notify the office so we can have the parents fill out an OCIS contract for their child. The forms will have to be completed and signed by parents 5-10 days in advance of the absence. Click here for a link to the OCIS Contract.
Parents are required to give 5 days notice for absences up to 5 days, 10 days notice for absences more than 5 days.
Prepping work for students who are absent is an incredible amount of work for our teaching staff and we ask that you give your child’s teacher as much advance notice as possible beyond the above guidelines.
We do not write contracts beyond 14 days. If you plan to be away for 15 or more days please contact the Welcome Center for the necessary procedures.
Would you like to become a part of the Design39Campus Team? Do you like to be outside and work with children? If so, we are looking for a few quality Motion Managers to help support our designers during body breaks and lunch during the middle of the day. Possible times are 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. or 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. If interested, please apply through Poway Unified School District at the this link.
Attendance: To report your child's absence or early checkout, please email the attendance office at d39cattendance@powayusd.com before 10:00 am on the day of the absence. Please include your child's name, homeroom/grade, dates of absence, and reason for absence. We kindly ask that you avoid checking out your student during the lunch period from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. - Medical, dental, or chiropractic services
- Attendance at funeral services for a member of the immediate family
- Justifiable personal reasons, including, but not limited to, an appearance in court, observance of a holiday or ceremony of his or her religion, attendance at religious retreats, attendance at an employment conference, when the pupil's absence has been requested in writing by the parent and approved by the principal or designated representative

Communication with your Designer: If there is a need to communicate with your child during the school day, please send a message to your child’s LED or the Welcome Center. Please refrain from communicating with them directly through text messages or phone calls as it disrupts their learning.
Personal Items: For equity reasons, we are asking that students keep their personal playground equipment at home or in their backpack. Our wonderful Collaborative supplies us with enough funding to ensure that there is enough equipment during recess and lunch.
