We are thrilled to have you join us as the newest members of Kirkwood High School! As you begin this exciting journey into high school, we want you to know that you are stepping into a place full of community, tradition, and excellence. High school is a time of growth, discovery, and new experiences, and we are here to help you navigate every step of the way.

Your freshman year is a chance to explore new subjects, make lifelong friends, and start building the foundation for your future. We encourage you to take advantage of all the resources and activities available to you. Whether you are passionate about academics, arts, athletics, or clubs, there are countless opportunities for you to get involved and make the most of your KHS experience.

Remember, the transition to high school can be overwhelming at times, but you are not alone. Our teachers, counselors, and staff are here to support you and guide you toward success. We look forward to watching you grow, learn, and achieve great things over the next four years. Together, we can make this a memorable and successful chapter in your life!

It was great to meet so many parents at Thursday's Open House. I have attached the Google Slide presentation to this Newsletter and responded to all of the questions that were asked on Padlet. Those Q/A responses will be on the last 3 slides. We are looking forward to a great year!

Tech Insurance can be purchased online at MySchoolBucks for the 2024-2025 school year. The cost is $40 for the year and $20 for families that receive free or reduced meals. Please note the replacement cost for the device and the items which accompany it.

For Returning/Existing KSD Students:

The last day to purchase laptop insurance is September 27, 2024.

For New KSD Students:

New students have two weeks from the date of enrollment to purchase insurance.

LOCKER REQUEST MUST BE FILLED OUT BY STUDENT AND THROUGH THEIR SCHOOL EMAIL.

The schedule for the 2024-2025 school year is a modified block that allows for more teacher collaboration. On Monday, Tuesday and Friday, students will attend all seven courses and have lunch with their 5th period class. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will have 4 class periods. You will have 1st or 2nd lunch based on what building you are in when the lunch period happens. When lunch is with 5th hour, you will go to whichever lunch that building observes. On Thursdays, lunch is with 4th hour.

First Lunch: West Building, Journalism, North Building, Northwest Building, Innovation Center, IP

Second Lunch: Science Building, East Building, FACS, ACT prep, Engineering and Technology, PE, Health, Art, Drama, Music, Discovery
