IMPORTANT INFO & OFFERINGS
Holocaust Museum & Education Center Summer Institute
I hope you are having a nice week so far. I wanted to share the above PDF highlighting the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center’s week-long 2025 summer institute from July 14-18. See below for highlights for the week. Please feel free to share this information with any teachers you think would be interested in attending.
This year's course will immerse participants in multi-media presentations, feature guest speakers, and draw interdisciplinary connections that align with state and national standards. Educators will be equipped to return to their classrooms with deeper knowledge of the Holocaust and rich pedagogical resources. The program will enable them to investigate with their students the ramifications of prejudice, racism and indifference, and the role of the individual in nurturing and protecting democratic values and human rights.
• Learn why, how, what, when and where the Holocaust took place, including key political, social, and economic factors that impacted the times that led up to and culminated in the “final solution.”
• Explore concepts such as prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, racism, antisemitism, obedience to authority, decision-making, and justice.
• Examine the diversity of experiences of individuals targeted by Naziism, including Jewish people, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Roma and Sinti, and Black people.
• Use resources including film, interactive text and graphics, diaries, and first-person accounts to actively engage students with the ideas of those involved in the Holocaust and provide a personal dimension to the historical narrative.
What To Expect
* Classroom Resources and Materials
* Lunch
* 30 Clock Hours (CPDUs)
* Graduate Credit Available through National Louis University (at an additional cost)
* Lane Change Credits (available for Chicago Public Schools teachers only)

ICEC Fall Convention, Whatever It Takes
Dear Educators.
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to inform you about the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children’s Annual Fall Convention, which will be held from November 6-8, 2025, in Naperville, IL. This year’s theme, "Whatever It Takes," reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that students with exceptionalities receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
We are currently accepting proposals for presentations and poster sessions, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share this information with your regions and encourage educators, administrators, and support staff to participate. We believe that the convention will offer valuable professional development opportunities for everyone involved in the education of students with exceptionalities.
The Call for Proposals and Poster Sessions is open now, and the submission forms can be found on our website at https://www.illinoiscec.net/.
Please consider joining us for what promises to be an inspiring and impactful conference and share the attached information with colleagues in your region. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your time and attention, and we look forward to seeing you in Naperville!
Warm regards,
