As we move further into the school year, I want to take a moment to focus on something that truly strengthens our school community: kindness. Every day, our students have countless opportunities to show kindness. Whether it’s offering a friendly greeting in the hallway or helping a classmate with a challenging assignment.

Encouraging acts of kindness supports a positive learning environment where everyone feels welcome and respected. Here are just a few ways you can help nurture a culture of kindness at home:

1. Model Compassion: Share examples of kind words and actions you see or practice daily.
2. Celebrate Good Deeds: Recognize your child for showing empathy or helping others.
3. Stay Connected: Check in regularly about their day, asking about moments they felt proud or witnessed someone else’s kindness.

Let’s continue working together to ensure our school remains a place where every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to be their best. Thank you for helping us build a culture of kindness, one thoughtful action at a time.

What an incredible Gahannathon! 🏆 The Dodgeball Challenge was a huge success—so much energy, teamwork, and Lion pride on full display! 🦁 Thank you to everyone who participated and supported such an amazing cause. This community never disappoints!

What an epic Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge! ✊✋✂️ The entire school brought the fun and competitive spirit last week, and it was amazing to see everyone get involved. Thanks to all who participated—this school truly knows how to come together!

Attention all current 11th grader parents:

Your student(s) are required to receive the 2nd dose of the Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine prior to starting 12th grade. **Not to be confused with the Meningitis B vaccine. They are not the same vaccine.**

Proof of this completed vaccination should be provided by the first day of school to the health office in the 2025-2026 (their 12th grade) school year. Submit the updated shot record to the school nurse below: Shelby Graham RN at grahams@gjps.org.

Our PASS (Positive Academic Support Solution) Room is now open after school! It is open Monday - Thursday from 3:40 PM - 5:00 PM, and is located in the ASC Lab (H163A). The PASS Room is operated by GLHS teachers who are ready and willing to provide academic support on assignments.

To celebrate your students upcoming graduation, Herff Jones is proud to provide the official cap and gown, graduation announcements, and senior accessories.

Important Steps for Ordering:

• Register Your Measurements: Each senior must scan the provided QR code and register their cap and gown measurements. This is essential for correct delivery in the spring.
• Cost: The cap and gown cost is $50.95 plus tax.
• Activate Your Account: After registering, activate your online ordering account at gradmidwest.com and make your payment as part of a package or individually.

Additional Information:

• The Herff Jones website offers a variety of senior gear, official school announcements, and other graduation celebration items.
• Payment Plan: For package orders, you can place a $100 deposit, with the final payment due by March 1, 2025. Payments can be made at any time via phone, mail, or the website. Full payment is required before delivery.
• Early Bird Pricing: Take advantage of online early bird pricing on graduation items until January 6, 2025.
