Important Safety Reminders for Bikes, Scooters, and Crosswalks
We want to remind you of the importance of bike, scooter, and crosswalk safety. We have observed some dangerous behavior in our parking lots, sidewalks and streets near our school. Please take a moment to review the following guidelines with your children:
Bike and Scooter Safety:
Helmets are Mandatory: Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding a bike or scooter. Helmets can significantly reduce the risk of head injuries.
Ride Responsibly: Follow traffic rules and ride on designated bike paths or sidewalks. Avoid riding on busy streets.
Check Your Brakes: Ensure that your bike or scooter has working brakes before riding.
Be Visible: Wear bright clothing, especially during low-light conditions. Consider using reflective gear or lights.
Crosswalk Safety:
Stop, Look, Listen: Before crossing the street, stop at the curb, look left, right, and left again for traffic, and listen for any approaching vehicles.
Use Designated Crosswalks: Always use designated crosswalks or pedestrian bridges.
Wait for the Signal: If there's a pedestrian signal, wait for the "WALK" sign before crossing.
By following these safety tips, we can help ensure that your children have a safe and enjoyable school year.

6th Grade Adventure Day
We have had a change of plans with Adventure Day. There were a few mix-ups with both Hannah Park and our vendors, so we are changing Adventure Day to be held At Middle School West on Thursday, September 12th. New Permission slips were passed out today, but If you've already turned one in you are good to go with the new plans. We also ask that you pay through Infinite Campus or by cash or check to the main office, but If you already paid through the Vehicles for Change website you are also good to go. If you want to volunteer to help that day please email Isabel Fox at foxi@gjps.org.
Heart and Pride
The Heart and Pride Award recognizes two outstanding staff members each month who make a profound impact on our students and Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools.
The Heart & Pride Nomination Form will remain available year-round and is open to any member of our staff, regardless of position.
