A message from the Principal
From Carole Langley
Greetings Stallions Parents!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We had some beautiful weather. I hope our week continues to have great weather as well. We are excited to be back for this full week once again. Parents continue to make sure our babies to school daily & arrive according to our school schedule (Doors open at 8:10 for breakfast & 8:23 is our arrival time). Please ensure all children arrive accordingly. Parents lunch visitors will begin Monday, September 9th after Labor Day week. Thank you for your patience as we continue to reinforce routines & procedures.
Additionally, please parents of our 3rd - 5th graders if you did not get a chance to preview the Class 1:1 Presentation last night, please view the presentation because the information reviewed is imperative to ensure technology is utilized appropriately throughout the school year. Also, please do not forget to purchase the $20.00 one-time payment of insurance. We need to work together to obtain continuous success.
Lastly, as mentioned earlier, let's continue to commitment towards attendance & academic excellence! Please parents make sure your children arrive to school according our campus morning schedule. Our campus doors open at 8:10 for breakfast. Our school day begins at 8:23am and the tardy bell rings at 8:30am. We have experienced several tardies this past few weeks, and I need your help to make sure students arrive to school early and/or according to the daily school. When your child is late they are missing out on an abundance of activities and learning. It is imperative that ALL children arrive according to the school schedule and our continuous goal is for ALL our children to obtain PERFECT ATTENDANCE! We will celebrate our Stallions & ALL your efforts to ensure this goal is achieved! Please make daily attendance a priority for you & your family!
Let's make this a magical year! Let's Go Stallions!
Thank you & have a wonderful week!
~Ms. Langley
Attendance and School Hours
Parents we need your help with attendance. Please know when your child is not at school they are missing out on essential instruction and academic excellence. We encourage each child to come to school daily to maintain their academic excellence. Also, when children arrive late they are missing out on components of their lessons as well. Please Stallion Parents work with us to ensure your children are at school daily and arriving according to the schedule time listed below. We work to Level Up on attendance and we need your help to lead the way!
- School Hours 8:23am - 3:40pm

Important Reminders
Parent Drop-off Begins: 8:10am (there is no supervision prior to this time)

First Bell - Pledges, Morning Announcements Begin: 8:23am
Tardy Bell - Students arriving 8:30am or later MUST have Parent enter the building & sign in at the front office

Transportation Changes: Transportation changes must be received in writing by 2:30pm. Please send an email stating the change desired to USECommunications@katyisd.org and include a copy of your photo ID. ALL TRANSPORTATION CHANGES MUST BE MADE WITH THE FRONT OFFICE.
Student Delivers: To ensure timely delivery of items such as lunches, water bottles, and homework/assignments, please bring them to the school by 10:00 AM. This helps us make sure your child receives everything they need before their day begins. Thank you for your cooperation!
Early Pick-up: Picking up students before the end of the school day will result in a partial-day absence. If your student has a doctor, dentist, or other medical appointment, please provide documentation from the provider to the front office upon return. Students needing to be picked up early for afternoon / after school appointments must be picked up prior to 3:00pm.
Safety Reminder: Morning Drop Off
Please remember that our morning drop-off procedures are in place to keep students safe. Not following these procedures creates safety concerns for all students being dropped off and for our staff and safety patrol members who are assisting with drop-off in the morning.
- Please drop off students by waiting in the drop-off line. Parking in the front is for parents who either have a scheduled appointment or need to conduct business on campus, not for drop-off. Having extra people crossing traffic in our drop-off line is hazardous.
- Please remind your students to exit on the sidewalk side of your vehicle and remain on the sidewalk.
Attention Parents of Car Riders - PM Dismissal
Please be in the car rider line by 3:35pm so that we can have students ready to meet you in the car rider line. At the beginning of the school year as students learn their car tag numbers, the line can move slower than usual. Within a week or two everyone gets into a routine and our car rider line finishes earlier. Parents who arrive after 3:55pm will be required to park and come to the front entrance with their pickup tag or photo ID in order to pick up your child. Thank you for your cooperation.
Parent/Guardian Lunch Visitors
We are again accepting lunch visitors during grade level lunches starting on Monday, September 9th Visitors must be a parent/guardian who is on the student's registration. The parent/guardian may be accompanied by one additional adult.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your assigned time to allow for check-in. Each parent/guardian may choose one day per week to eat lunch with their child. If there is additional demand, we may need to adjust this number. Thank you for your cooperation.
Dreambox & Reflex Math
One of our Stephens Elementary expectations is for our students to utilize Dreambox and Reflex Math weekly. These programs are used to supplement all the instruction happening at our campus and help close academic gaps to be more successful in Math. We invite you to have your student use them at home for at least 30 minutes daily. If you plan on completing this at home, please contact your child's teacher if you need assistance with usernames/passwords.
Free and Reduced Meals Program
We are excited that the The Texas Department of Agriculture has designated Stephens Elementary a CEP campus for this upcoming school year. This means that all students will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch! Students will be able to receive these free meals regardless of the income status of the home. We ask that parents complete this information during their Power School update, as it may also ensure other benefits for our students.

The Senate Bill 9
In accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and Senate Bill 9, 5th grade students will receive instruction on the required health TEKS specific to abuse and violence prevention. Under Texas statute, parents must choose to “opt-in” for their 5th grade student to participate in lessons addressing these topics.
The Senate Bill 9 – Abuse and Violence Prevention Opt-In window is now open, from September 2nd – September 30th. On September 2, 2024, parents/guardians will receive information via email on how to view the associated lessons and record their decision for their student’s “opt-in” participation.
Below are the windows for both the parent opt-in and when the lessons will be taught:
- Parent Opt-In Window: September 2nd – September 30th
- Instruction Window: November 4th – December 20th
Parents of 5th graders, you may opt-in your 5th grade student to participate. Reach out to Mrs. Jackson, School Counselor, if you have any questions or need more information.
Your District Your Voice
Dear Katy ISD Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community Members,
The Texas Legislature convenes every two years. Each time this legislative body meets, it offers an opportunity for our Katy community to advocate for, and influence, policy-making that impacts our children, schools, and classrooms.
We ask that our parents and community provide feedback on educational issues affecting the quality of education in Katy ISD schools.
The feedback you provide will help inform the Board of Trustees’ legislative priorities as we prepare for the 89th Texas Legislative Session that will commence in January 2025.
Thank you.
Gracias.
Enhancing Educational Supports for EB Students
Schoolwide Theme for the 2024-2025School Year
New Theme for the 2024-2025 School Year
Parents please join our staff by participating with our new campus theme for the upcoming school year. This year's theme is "A magical world of learning"! We believe that education opens the doors to endless possibilities, much like magic. In our classrooms, every lesson is a new adventure, every challenge is a chance to grow, and every student has the potential to discover the wonders of knowledge. Together, we can create an enchanting environment where curiosity thrives, creativity blooms, and learning is truly magical.
Bus Routes & Smart Tag Bus Tracking App
If your student is a bus rider, look for the white route number on the side of the bus when tracking their bus this school year! And make sure to download the Smart tag™ app from your mobile Google Play Store or Apple App Store! The Smart Tag app allows parents to set their preferred notifications, including when their child’s bus is expected to arrive. You can also see when and where your student boards and exits the bus.
Look for the white route number
Smart Tag App for Bus Tracking

The system will enable parents, bus drivers, and school administrators, to review in real time, when and where a student is picked up or dropped off by a school bus. Student identification (ID) cards for eligible riders will include the SMART Tag ID information. Buses will be equipped with a tablet that will read each student’s ID every time they enter and exit their bus. Parents and guardians will also have access to the SMART Tag Parent Web Portal — a cloud-based platform that will enable them to monitor their student’s ridership and bus route. Parents and guardians of eligible bus riders will receive additional information about the Smart Tag ID system via the email address they have on file with the district. The Smart Tag ID system replaces Katy ISD’s Edulog Lite App

2024-2025 Chromebooks 1:1 Information
Insurance for Chromebooks
Parents can email changemyrequest@katyisd.org to request a change in the insurance enrollment.
The communication will be:
"CLASS 1:1 Device Insurance Updates:
• Student Fees, which includes the Device Insurance fees, will be sent to Pay N’ Go on Aug. 12th and then daily thereafter.
• If a parent selected NO to device insurance in Annual Student Update or New Student Registration, they can change their selection to YES by emailing changemyrequest@katyisd.org and their selection will be changed centrally by School Leadership & Support. The parent will still have only 30-days after their student’s first day of attendance to pay and be fully insured. For example, if a parent changes their N to a Y on 08/01/2024, the first day of attendance for their student is 08/14/2024, so they will have until 09/13/2024 to pay in full to be insured. If they do not pay by 9/13/2024, they will not be insured and cannot opt back in for device insurance until the following school year.
Parents can email changemyrequest@katyisd.org to request a change in the insurance enrollment.
