The Greenhand FFA Quiz team was the 2nd place team at the state contest. A greenhand member is a 1st year ag student. At the beginning of this year there were 564 entries across the state. This young group has given up many hours with friends, and we are so proud of what these kids have done. Congratulations Paige Ponce, Mario Bryan, Kodi Morris, and Casey Vincent!

Cammie Morgan is the new Elementary student counselor. She joined our staff this school year. She graduated from Medina High School and attended college at Schreiner University and Angelo State University. She has been teaching for 24 years and loves doing it. Her goal as a teacher is to impact the lives of all her students the same way her teachers did for her. She wants to create trusting and meaningful relationships with her students and help them realize the importance of learning new things and exploring the many wonders this life offers. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and crocheting.

Middle School Girls basket vs. Hunt 12-9-19
Last night the JH pirates A&B teams beat the Hunt Lady Eagles. Ariana Ibarra had 2 points, Blackley Fain had a beautiful 2 point shot, Celeste Cervantes and Tanya Macklina each added 2 points as well and Jazmin Gonzalez had 7 points including an end of the game 3 pointer to seal the game. The pirates ran down the final seconds of the clock and ended up victorious 15-11. The Lady Pirates will travel to San Saba next Tuesday.
Middle School Boys Basketball
11-21-19 vs Harper
The Center Point Middle School Pirates opened up the basketball season by winning two of three games against Harper. The Opening Act started the evening with a 14-6 win over the Longhorns. Kelby Marish led the way with eight points. Robert Soto, Connor Foley, and Victor Castro all added to the scoring effort. The 7th grade team outlasted Harper, 27-17 with a great team effort. Mauricio Gallegos led the scoring with nine points. Jose Gallegos had six points and Juan Alvarado and Jesse Segura finished with four points a piece. Segura and Rene Alvarado led the way defensively with their aggressive play. Kole Blackledge owned the boards throughout the game. The 8th grade team battled the Longhorns to the end, but fell short, 30-21. Joel Lozano led the team with eight points, while Mario Bryan added five points. Jeremyah Vela and Rene Rodriguez were strong for the Pirates on the defensive end. In all it was a great start to the season and we're excited to see these guys progress through the season.
12-2-19 vs. Junction
The Center Point Middle School Pirates took on the Eagles in Junction, winning one of the three games. The Opening Act starting things with a 14-0 win. All five players scored, led by Noah Flores and Connor Foley with four points a piece. The 7th grade fought to the very end, falling 20-18. Jose Gallegos scored seven points, while Mauricio Gallegos finished with six points.
The 8th grade battled hard, but fell short 32-15. Mario Bryan led the scoring with five points. Joel Lozano and Joe Castaneda each added four points.
12-9-19 vs Hunt
The Center Point Middle School boys defeated the Hunt Eagles 24-16. It was a strong combined effort by the Pirates, who were able to limit Hunt's opportunities with some stout defense. Joel Lozano led the offensive attack with twelve points. Mario Bryan added four and Rene Rodriguez finished with three. Everyone played well and contributed to the effort; while the team was able to improve all aspects of the game. Great job! On to the next one!

Every year at Center Point ISD, the students participate in a food drive for families in need.The grade levels compete to have a pizza and movie party, a welcome opportunity to get out of a few class periods. This year the students and staff were able to raise 1,567 pounds of canned goods, breaking the current record for the district. The middle school prize winner was the 6th grade class with 5,548 oz and for High School the Senior class won with 6,321 oz. Thank you to all the parents, friends and family members who helped our students with this awesome community service.
