Sunnyvale ISD E-News
The first day of school in SISD is typically a very fun and busy around SISD campuses! However, please understand that traffic on the first day of school is extremely heavy.
In fact, for the first two-three weeks of school, you can expect traffic to be heavier and pick-lines to be longer than they typically are during the rest of the year. THIS IS NORMAL. Once students begin riding buses more and routines are more settled, traffic will lessen and pick-up lines will shorten. This happens each an every year and we assure you, it's all very routine in SISD.
π¨π¨IMPORTANT:π¨π¨
EXPECT EXTRA TRAFFIC SLOW DOWNS TOMORROW DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AND SPECIAL EVENTS ON CAMPUS
As you are aware, from watching Mr. Kimball's Facebook Live updates, SISD's track at the stadium is being resurfaced. The asphalt will be poured on of the first day of school and will likely continue all day. While this is not ideal timing, we are excited to have the asphalt! However, drivers can expect some construction vehicles near the middle school and the stadium parking lots. Please use caution when driving in these areas, as well as on Trophy Nissan Lane, which runs between Tripp Road and Raider Drive (between Raider Stadium and the administration gym).
π¨TRAFFIC MAY ALSO BE SLOW NEAR THE ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL DUE TO SPECIAL EVENTSπ¨
SENIOR PARENTS ATTENDING THE SENIOR WALK
Senior parents may wish to park in the area designated as "temporary parking" in the above map. Please read more about parking, below.
ELEMENTARY SPECIAL CEREMONY
As mentioned in SISD's communication yesterday, several law enforcement officers will be attending a special ceremony at the elementary school. There is no cause for alarm, but please prepare for traffice accordingly.
PARKING ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
We hope providing some relief in the from of extra parking space for those who choose to drop off students that morning will help make your first day the best ever. Please see the above map and note the temporary parking on the north side of the high school, which is available to anyone who needs it. Also, be sure to check out our flow of traffic so that everyone is commuting around campuses in the right direction.
π¨Also, please note:π¨
π¨Parking in fire lanes is prohibited - SISD buses must be able to pass.π¨
π¨Please do not park on corners - SISD buses must be able to safely make turns.π¨
π¨Please be mindful of student walkers and bike riders. It's a busy morning and we need everyone paying close attention to their surroundings.π¨
π¨Please do not speed.π¨
We also ask that if one of our School Resource Officers or Safety and Security Personnel ask you to park in another area or kindly remind you of one of the above safety notes, please be kind and adhere to their request.
We're all in this together!
