FR. NWEKE 60TH BIRTHDAY
"We live in the shelter of each other."
There is an old African saying, that we live in the shelter of each other. Without community, there is no life.
On Saturday evening, Ursula Frayne Catholic College hosted its biggest birthday party ever! Fr. Nick celebrated his 60th birthday with a fundraising dinner event, where over 300 guests attended, to share a lovely meal, dance and engage in fundraising activities.
A highlight of the evening was a slow live painting by John Adams which was auctioned, attracting an amazing total of $8,000.00, which will go directly to Fr Nick's charity foundation, supporting the further development of a hospital in Nigeria.
CONGRATULATIONS MARGARET RATH
I am very proud to share that Margaret Rath has been awarded a highly distinguished recognition through ACEL for her leadership in teaching.
This is wonderful recognition for Margaret who is so highly regarded for her English leadership and also her teaching of English. Ursula Frayne students have benefitted greatly from Margaret's leadership in teaching and her leadership of the English Learning Area.
Our students leave our College having had the best opportunities to grow in their English and Literature competencies. In addition to the excellence Margaret brings to the classroom she is also a generous, supportive and caring staff member who is pastorally strong. She values the relational aspect and connection a teacher has with their classes. We celebrate together this acknowledgement of Margaret.
With only a few weeks left of the academic year to go for many of our students, we look forward to celebrating achievements and milestones, before the joy of Christmas arrives.
