March 2025
Purdy Office News!
Hard to believe March is upon us! The weather isn't sure what it wants to do, but we sure welcome the warmer temps and sun after spending many days on inside recesses!
Speaking of the weather, please be sure to help your child understand that when the weather is 50 degrees or above, we do not need coats (and can wear shorts), but below that temperature, we ask that students have coats and pants. It is also a great idea to provide a change of pants (especially our younger students) as mud slips sometimes happen!
Our school has been sharing time in our multiage families this year! We have seen some great leadership from our upper grade students helping our younger students and we are so proud! We discuss daily what it means to be a leader and students are shining! We have had over 175 leadership tickets handed out this year to students showing leadership, responsibility, kindness and care for fellow classmates!
FORWARD ASSESSMENT: Our 3rd through 5th grade students will be participating in the statewide Forward Assessment. The window is March 17-April 25. Our wonderful PTO will be providing snacks for our students and we are encouraging all students to be sure to grab a good breakfast, be well rested, present, and on time so all students can do their very best. Teachers of grades 3-5 will be sharing a more detailed schedule with families.
FINE ARTS NIGHT- is set for March 11th from 5:30-7:00 PM. This is for all families and will showcase the art and musical talents of our students! There will be food trucks, music and art!
MATH AND LITERACY ACTIVITY NIGHT- Is set for March 17. We hope all families will join us at Purdy for a night of family activities from 5:00-6:00 right here at Purdy. There will be some family activities to enjoy with prize giveaways!
COUPLE REMINDERS:
We have had some students needing reminders about cell phone usage during school hours (and taking them into bathrooms or outside). We do not allow this. If students need to contact a guardian during the school day, we allow them to use the office phone. Please help us in reminding your child. If they have a cell phone, it is not allowed to be used during school hours. It should be kept off in their backpack. If we see them with it, we hold it for them in the office until the bell rings. If this continues, we will alert families of the specific concern. Thank you.
School Lunch: Just a reminder we do not allow soda or energy drinks during lunch. Students are welcome to purchase a milk with their cold lunch or have water or juice. Thank you for your understanding.
Breakfast: Please note that breakfast closes at 7:55 AM (first bell). If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, they can arrive between 7:30-7:50 so they are served and have time to eat before the start of school. Thanks!
Lost and Found is overflowing! This is available for students to look through until March 11. On March 11 (Fine Arts Night), these will be available for families to look through and grab what is your child's property. On March 12, the leftover items will be bagged up and donated. Thank you!
Spring Break for students is March 21- 30.
