Weekly Waddle

Principal's Message
Dear Pattengill Families,
TK/Kindergarten Information Night
Monday was our TK/Kindergarten Information Night and it was wonderful to welcome so many new and familiar faces to share what makes our school community so special. I would like to thank our PTA and Dads Club representatives for helping to welcome our new families. Additionally, our 4th and 5th grade student leaders did an outstanding job serving as student ambassadors. This involvement reflects the unity and support that make our school such a special place. Please feel free to contact me with any questions if you could not attend.
Time to Fill Out Intent to Return Forms for All Students TK-5
As hard as it is to believe, it is time to start planning for next school year. Our District has created a simple form in the MISTAR Parent Portal for families with students in grades TK-11 to let us know if your children will return to the Berkley School District next year. This information helps us begin preparing for our returning students. Form entries are due Friday, February 14 at the end of the day.
PTA Founders Day
Every year, each Berkley PTA honors an Educator, a Support Staff person, and a PTA member as part of the Founders’ Day Celebration. Please use the link to nominate the individuals you feel deserve to be recognized. Pattengill’s Founders’ Day Nominations Form.
As always, thank you for being part of this incredible school community. Together, we are building an amazing year of learning, connection, and growth for all students.
Proud to be your principal,
Shamika

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then be Understood
Today was Habit Huddle Day and this month's Habit Huddle was on Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then be understood. Habit 5 teaches the importance of understanding before seeking to be understood! It means:
- Listening with empathy – trying to understand someone’s feelings and perspective rather than just hearing their words.
- Not interrupting – allowing others to fully express themselves before responding.
- Clarifying and reflecting – asking questions and repeating back what you heard to ensure understanding.
Ask your student to tell you what they learned about their Habit Huddle partner today!
Bagels Sellers Needed for Second Semester!
Pattengill is in need of volunteers to sell bagels for the second semester. Bagel sales are not possible without the many parents who volunteer to sell. Please use this link to sign up to help sell bagels this school year. Thank you!

Bagel Punch Cards are available for purchase. Be on the lookout for the Dads Club to have someone selling the cards at one of the two picnic tables in front of the school. A Bagel Punch Card is $10.
