Welcome to Field Elementary
As we prepare over the last weekend of the summer before school starts, please keep in mind we want to transition into the first week of school as successfully as possible. This newsletter will cover the following topics:
Communication Edition #4.5
Parent Portal- Aeries Student Database
Simple Dismissal
First Day/Week Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures
Afterschool Programming Locations/Contacts
Bell Schedules
Parent Portal- Aeries Student Database
Aeries (student database platform) Parent Portal access is now available for all families. If you did not receive an email from me on Thursday, August 15th with your child's teacher assignment that means your data is not confirmed in our system. The front office staff will be available in the MPR/Cafeteria and front office to distribute the paperwork needed to gain access to your child's account. A valid ID will be needed in order to complete this process. If you are experiencing difficulties accessing or linking your child's account, please contact the front office for assistance.
Simple Dismissal
The Simple Dismissal system will be used for our pick-up for all students on campus. A unique number is assigned to each student on campus that is communicated at the carline or the walking gate to teachers/staff. The system then populates the numbers that should be dismissed from all classes all over the campus to their various locations. Parents/guardians that are picking up will need to have their laminated card in order to pick up their child from their specific location. Carline parents, please have your laminated card on the dashboard to make it easy to input your child's number into the system. Walking parents will just need to show their card at the TK/Kinder gate to teachers/staff to be entered into the system. Students that are pre-enrolled in afterschool programming will be dismissed by their Homeroom Teacher or English Teacher at the end of the school day (see locations below). Independent walkers will leave from their classroom and walk to the front of the school to either walk home or a meeting point by the trees in the front of the school (northeast lawn). All TK/Kinder students will meet in the MPR/Cafeteria for the first few days of school even if they have an assigned number from last school year. This is to ensure all numbers are distributed and parents are clear with all procedures after school starts. TK/Kinder students with older siblings should have their older sibling indicated as a walker until the end of the first week.
SIBLING SETS ON CAMPUS- Please indicate if you would like your child(ren) to have the same dismissal number for the school year HERE. Please submit one entry per child so that we can link your children in the system. We will need to take the week in order create the new tags for all new students (TK/KINDER/UPPER GRADES).
REPLACEMENT TAGS FOR RETURNING STUDENTS- As you know we have limited supplies on campus for the school year. If you need a replacement parent placard and/or student backpack card please indicate the need HERE and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Our system is in place to ensure the safety of all students and staff on campus. Students remain in their classrooms with their teachers until their number is indicated in the system. Please see further information below.
First Day/Week Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures
**School Maps will be available in the front office and MPR/Cafeteria**
Front Semi-Circle- CAR DROP-OFF LOCATION
This is our morning and afternoon car drop-off location. Our morning drop-off will not have volunteers or workers who are assisting with exiting and/or unloading of students. Please do not drop off students from Sierra Madre Blvd and have students walk across the semi-circle. Please do not park or use the center lane in the semi-circle to pass cars in line to ensure safety as drop off is occurring both in the morning and afternoon.
Doors/gates will open at 8:25am and all students should report to the multi-purpose room (MPR)/cafeteria until 8:35am. Students can then transition to the playground (TK/Kinder behind C Building & upper grades- south of the B Building) until the first bell at 8:40am
At 8:45am (final bell) all teachers will have their students line up on their respective playgrounds. Parents are welcome to walk their students into the school on the first day and visit the classrooms (if the doors are open by the teachers) until 8:40am. At 8:45am all parents/families should exit the campus and make their way to the front of the school. You can join us on the front lawn for the PTA-hosted Coffee with Parents/Guardians event until 10am.
In the afternoon for pick-up we will have parent volunteers and teachers/staff that will assist with the carline. Parents in the pick-up line should have their students SIMPLE DISMISSAL number that will be communicated to staff in order to retrieve your child from their classroom.
NEW STUDENTS WITHOUT A SIMPLE DISMISSAL NUMBER SHOULD REPORT TO THE MPR/CAFETERIA UNTIL A NUMBER HAS BEEN ISSUED
All TK & KINDER STUDENTS WILL DISMISS AND BE PICKED UP FROM THE MPR/CAFETERIA THE FIRST FEW DAYS OF SCHOOL UNTIL ALL DISMISSAL NUMBERS HAVE BEEN ISSUED
PLEASE NOTE: TK/KINDER PARENTS WILL BE GROUPED AND CALLED BY CLASSROOM TO ENTER THE MPR/CAFETERIA TO PICK UP THEIR STUDENTS TO AVOID OVERCROWDING AND BUILDING CAPACITIES. PLEASE BRING AN UMBRALLA OR WEAR A HAT TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN AS YOU WAIT PATIENTLY TO BE CALLED INTO THE MPR/CAFETERIA. WE WILL HAVE ONE ENTRANCE AND ONE EXIT FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS. ONCE WE MAKE IT THROUGH OUR FIRST ROUND OF CALLING PARENTS BY CLASSROOM WE WILL START AGAIN AT THE TOP OF THE LIST WITH TK UNTIL ALL STUDENTS IN EACH HOMEROOM ARE DISMISSED FROM THE MPR/CAFETERIA. THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO BE USED NEW UPPER GRADE STUDENTS 1ST-5TH GRADE UNTIL THEY HAVE THEIR SIMPLE DISMISSAL NUMBER
UPPER GRADE LEVEL STUDENTS (1st-5th Graders) WITH YOUNGER SIBLINGS (TK/Kinder) SHOULD BE ENTERED AS WALKERS AND PICKED UP FROM TK/KINDER GATE. PARENTS/GUARDIANS WILL NEED TO PICK UP THEIR TK/KINDER STUDENT FIRST AND THEN GO TO THE TK/KINDER GATE TO RETRIEVE THEIR UPPER GRADE LEVEL AFTER THE YOUNGER SIBLING. THIS IS ONLY FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS/WEEK OF SCHOOL
TK/KINDER GATE- WALKING GATE LOCATION
For families parking in our surrounding areas (do not park in the teacher/staff east parking lot) you will meet staff at the gate for pick up. For the first few days of school all TK/Kinder classes will meet in the MPR/Cafeteria for pick up and dismissal to after school programming. Once all Simple Dismissal numbers have been distributed for all classes and all after school programming is communicated to the homeroom teachers, students and teachers will then remain in their classrooms and parents will either opt for the carline pick-up (front of the school) or the walking gate (TK/Kinder gate). We will give you an update once everything is finalized during the first week of school.
INDEPENDENT WALKERS- RELEASED FROM CLASS TO THE FRONT OF SCHOOL
For families that would like their child to independently walk home or to a parked vehicle near the campus. We will need record of your request on file HERE (please complete one entry per each student request). Students TK-1st cannot apply as an independent walker unless they have an older sibling enrolled in 2nd-5th that will pick them up and walk with them to their designated location (front lawn near the trees). TK-1st students should be picked up as walkers by an adult.
Students designated as independent walkers- Your student will be marked in the system (Simple Dismissal) as an independent walker. They are to leave their classroom and walk to their designated location immediately after the dismissal bell. They will check out with a teachers/staff member at the front of the school and then be released to walk home or to your parked vehicle. Please do not wait in the carline and/or walking gate for your independent walker. Keep those locations specific for their purpose. If you are meeting your independent walker, you will meet them at the front of the school near our trees (northeast of the campus). If at any point during the school year your child does not follow the rules as an independent walker they will lose this access and need to report to either the carline for pick up or the walking gate for the remainder of the school year.
Students with multiple activities and varying day activities scheduled Monday-Friday (for example):
Monday- iWant Chinese
Tuesday- Piano Lessons (Independent Walker)
Wednesday- LEARNs
Thursday- LEARNs
Friday- Independent Walker
You will need to communicate your specific schedule to your child's Homeroom Teacher/English Teacher so that your child knows exactly where to go any day of the week.
As updates are provided we will communicate those items to the community and pivot as needed.
Students that are not picked up by 2pm on Mondays or 3:30pm on Tuesdays-Fridays will be escorted to the front office area.

School Weekly Schedule:
Mondays 8:45am-1:30pm
Tuesdays-Fridays 8:45am-3:10pm
At this time the earliest drop-off will be 8:25am with adult supervision unless you opt-in for early morning care through LEARNs at 7am. You can enroll HERE. There is currently a waitlist but the coordinator is working to ensure we have space for interested families. All students arriving at 8:25am are to report to the MPR until 8:35am.
PLEASE NOTE:
Morning Drop-off- 8:25am (adult supervision)
All students report to the cafeteria
Breakfast 8:25am-8:35am
8:35am- Dismissal to the Playground (Kinder & Upper Grades)
8:35am-8:40am Playground Time
8:40am- First Bell
8:45am- Classes Begin (all tardy students must report to the front office-after the first week of school)
As the first day and week of school will lend itself to larger than usual crowds in the morning due to parents and students both being on campus, dismissal to the playground may be announced earlier than 8:35am to minimize overcrowding and building capacity. Locations near and around the MPR/Cafeteria are acceptable.
During the first week of school, teachers will not mark students tardy as we shift our practices to accommodate new and returning students to our school.
