Writing: For the next six weeks, we will be working through the writing process and on our class book. We will be writing a nonfiction book about animals—the title of our book is TBD. We are excited to start this journey of publishing our class book.

Grammar Focus: Nouns, verbs, action verbs and subject-verb agreement

Phonics: We will review words ending with -ing.

Rules on adding -ing: Short Vowels and Long Vowels

Spelling: We will be reviewing past spelling patterns. Students will be tested on their skills with a variety of words given to them during the test.

We will also focus on reading fluency throughout the week.

Spelling Test on Monday 2/10

Reading: We will be closing out our unit on Space. This week, our focus is on the planets within our solar system.

Vocabulary:

Abundant: adj. plentiful: more than enough.

Categorize: v. sort: put into a group with other similar objects.

Comprehension Test on Monday 2/10

Math: We will begin the unit on comparing numbers. We will focus on the vocabulary words greater than, less than, and equal to.

Science: We will learn about natural resources (water, soil, sand, and rocks).

Social Studies: We will study maps and globes. Test on Thursday.

Library is every Thursday. Please have your kiddo bring back their library books each Thursday to receive new books. Subject to change due to Librarians schedule. Please see my weekly emails for changes.
