Back-To-School 2024
Allegheny Valley Prepares To Go Back To School
The Allegheny Valley School District enthusiastically looks forward to the 2024-2025 school year. The theme of “Be Kind. Be A Dynamo.” highlights the District’s belief that all students can create a better school environment. This year, emphasis will be placed on further developing education to build a better Allegheny Valley School District.
The upcoming school year brings new programs and ideas to the District. Acmetonia Elementary School will continue its math intervention pilot-program, Spring Math. The program assesses classes on a weekly basis and determines any additional support that may be needed. These supports can then be added to class sessions to help individual students. Areas for the program were selected due to the importance of certain math skills being developed by the end of specific grade levels.
In addition, Springdale Jr-Sr High School will continue to shape post-secondary experiences for students, with juniors having an option to visit a 4-year college, community college, and trade schools. Junior high students (grades 7 & 8) will continue their Identity program, providing the students with experiences - breakfasts, career speakers, dances, junior high only events – to help with their transition to a new building with different academic expectations. Additional classes in Family Consumer Science and Technology Education will also highlight the school year.
The Technology Department completes its purchase of new Viewboards for all District classrooms. This project was completed in phases, with boards installed over a two-year period. The project replaces all projector setups in the individual rooms throughout the District. The 1:1 program continues at all grade levels, with distribution of equipment being held prior to the start of school. Also new in technology will be electronic excuses for parents, a new public address system at the high school, and new building access throughout the District.
Finally, the District welcomes three new teachers for the year – one at the high school in special education and two in the elementary building in music and grade 4. The newcomers are happy to begin working with students and continue to build their various programs. They will join with the rest of the staff to continue to provide a first-rate educational program in the District.
Allegheny Valley offers details on goals, initiatives, and additional programs on its web site.

Welcome Back!
Please keep in mind the following information:
• Classroom, scheduling, and bus information has been included on the parent portals and given to families through the Parent Portal.
• Parents are reminded that students must ride the bus THEY ARE ASSIGNED. Students cannot change buses daily and will not be permitted to ride home with friends. Administrators would appreciate NO parent requests of this nature. This policy is in place for the safety of the students.
• Parents who pick up their children at the bus stops are reminded to park at least ten feet from street corners. While waiting for buses, individuals are asked to respect the property of the homeowners around bus stops.
• Please note that changing traffic patterns throughout the communities may vary bus times. The District asks that parents be patient with these time changes and understand that the District has no control over the time fluctuations.
• Parents driving their children to school are asked to drop off students at the appropriate doors. Doors open for students at Springdale Jr-Sr High School at 7:30 a.m.; Acmetonia Elementary School doors open at 8:10 a.m.
