Hubbard Woods Update

Principal Update
Dear Hubbard Woods Community,
Where did May go? It has been a busy month filled with so many wonderful moments with our staff and students. We look forward to June and more of our year end traditions and activities. Information will be coming in homeroom newsletters with the most up to date times and dates for all of the upcoming activities.
We started our day today with an assembly featuring a Hubbard Woods graduate, Major JB Hoff, retired Air Force fighter pilot. He was a guest speaker for the Memorial Day parade in Winnetka yesterday. Past tradition has the speaker returning to the elementary school from which they graduated. We brought back the tradition and the students were very impressed!
Thank you, to those that chose to keep smart watches at home last week. We can see a difference for your children as the distraction has been taken away for them! Let's keep it up. Attention can be harder to come by in the waning weeks of the school year. đ As always, we appreciate your support!
Have a wonderful week.
Best,
Beth

Just a quick email to let you know it is that time of year again. Recruitment assemblies will be taking place this month at Crow Island, Greeley and Hubbard Woods for current 1st-3rd grade students. 4th grade students will have a separate assembly where they will learn more about the program at Skokie. 4th graders can also start on any string instrument including the string bass!! Students will be introduced to the instruments that they can learn at school: violin, viola, cello and string bass. (4th graders only) The registration forms will be electronic again this year via Google Forms.
If you have more than one child signing up next year, feel free to use the same form for both (all) of your children. The registration deadline will be Friday, June 10th. Please let us know if you have any questions. Looking forward to working with your children again next year!

âWinnetka Voicesâ
Season 2, Episode #6: Crow Island School at 85
Crow Island School, an internationally recognized beacon of Progressive Education, turns 85-years-old in 2025. Dr. Kelly Tess, Superintendent, reflects on the schoolâs enduring legacy with Dr. Luke Livingston, current Principal, and Dr. Julie Pfeffer, who served as Principal for 11 years. Listeners will also receive a review of extensive renovations that will occur in 2024-2025, retaining the buildingâs original historic details but, as Dr. Pfeffer notes, âallowing Crow Island to grow into the future so students and teachers can be their best.â
