Fall Festival
A huge thank you to our PTA for putting on yet another amazing Fall Festival! The turnout was wonderful, and families had a fantastic time enjoying games, winning pumpkins and prizes, and simply being in community together. It was heartwarming to see everyone coming together to celebrate the season, and we’re so grateful for the hard work and dedication of our PTA in making this special event possible.
Thank you for all you do to support our school and bring us together!
School Site Council
As we work together to support our school and students, we are excited to announce that we are currently seeking nominations for the School Site Council (SSC) for the [2024-2025] school year. We currently have 3 vacancies in our council.
What is the School Site Council?
The School Site Council is a vital group composed of parents, teachers, staff, and the principal, who work together to help shape the educational priorities of our school. In a public elementary school, the SSC plays an important role in:
- Developing and reviewing the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), which outlines strategies to improve academic performance and support student success.
- Allocating resources based on the school’s specific needs and goals.
- Providing input on budgetary decisions to ensure funding is used effectively to enhance learning opportunities for all students.
Being part of the SSC offers a meaningful way to engage with our school’s planning and decision-making processes. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to represent the voice of parents in guiding school policies and programs.
Meeting dates:
November 13 4:00-5:30
January 15 4:00-5:30
February 19 4:00-5:30
March 26 4:00-5:30
May 7 4:00-5:30
We encourage family members to nominate themselves or others who would be interested in serving on the council. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to collaborate and make a positive impact on our school!
Please submit your nominations by November 1 here.
If you are nominating a person other than yourself please check-in with them prior to submitting a nomination.
Local Control Funding Formula
Attention all Families!
We are seeking a dedicated family representative from our school to join the District Local Control Steering Committee. This committee plays an essential role in guiding the effective use of resources provided by the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which supports our highest-need students—including low-income students, English language learners, and foster youth.
By participating, your voice can help shape the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and ensure that funding addresses both state and local priorities to support equal educational opportunities. As a committee member, you'll collaborate with representatives from our 16 schools and staff to review current plans, make spending recommendations, and help revise the 2025-2026 LCAP.
Meeting Dates (all held at the District Board Room, 5:30–7:00 p.m.):
November 21
February 13
April 3
April 23 (LCAP presentation at the DELAC meeting)
May 1 (Open Community Meeting)
If interested in joining or recommending a participant, please inform Virginia by Friday November 1. Thank you for helping us ensure every student's needs are met equitably and effectively!
Halloween Costumes
In response to community interest, San Lorenzo Unified invites students and staff to participate in an optional costume day on October 31. For those not wearing costumes, you are welcome to show your school spirit with pajamas or school colors! Please follow these guidelines to keep the day safe and enjoyable:
Costume Guidelines:
- Costumes must be practical for a full school day (no inflatable costumes) and are worn at your own risk.
- Avoid scary, bloody, or gory themes.
- No masks, face paint, or disruptive accessories (e.g., fake weapons, wands, wings).
- Costumes should be respectful of all cultures.
- School-appropriate footwear is required.
- Keep the fake weapons at home
If in doubt about a costume or accessory, contact school administration before October 31. Let’s make it a safe and fun day focused on learning!
