All Schools Closed Jan. 8, 2025 Due to Winds, Area Fires
January 7, 2025
Dear PUSD Community,
The safety of our community is our top priority.
With the volatility of the high-wind event affecting our area, increasing reports of wind damage, and a fire near Eaton Canyon, in an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close all schools tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Additionally, the City of Pasadena is assessing whether to declare a state of emergency due to the impacts of the weather.
The closure will allow our crews time to evaluate and repair damages to ensure all campuses are safe for students and staff. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
Meals: Because many of our students depend on school meals, Grab & Go meals will be available for pick up at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Madison Elementary (515 E Ashtabula St, Pasadena, CA 91104), McKinley School (325 S Oak Knoll Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101), and Willard (301 Madre St, Pasadena, CA 91107).
PUSD will continue monitoring conditions and inform you on January 8 about reopening schools.
We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety. We will continue to keep you informed. Please stay safe.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D.
Superintendent
