Dear Seaside Families,
I hope this email finds all of our families doing well and everyone is enjoying their summer! I sure do miss everyone and hope that you all are doing great. I wanted to send this out to introduce to you three new teachers to our Seaside family. We have two new fourth grade teachers and a new second grade teacher. I have put their picture and an introduction from them below this message. I wanted to also update you with information regarding our Open House for the 24-25 school year. This year's Open House will be held on August 14, 2024 from 4-6 P.M. Teacher placements will be sent out on Thursday, June 27, 2024 via email. These will all be sent out by the end of the day on Thursday. If you have not registered your student, then you will not know who your child's teacher will be until after July 12. Please do this by Wednesday, June 26. Powerschool will be down for maintenance on Thursday, June 27 and will not be back up until or around the week of July 8-12. Please register your student if you have not already done so. Those parents who have incoming kindergartners, you will receive your child's assigned teacher by the end of the day on July 17, 2024 via email. Included in the email, you will also find your student's staggered attendance schedule for the first week of school. Each kindergarten student in HCS will attend one day during the first week of August 19-23. Then ALL kindergarten students will report to school on August 26, 2024. Thank you for your time and reading through this information. I cannot wait to see all of our students back to school for the 24-25 school year. Jill Gee Second Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Jill Gee and I am thrilled to be joining the Seaside family! This will be my 25th year teaching and my 4th in Horry County. I am originally from the upstate of South Carolina, where I taught in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. I have taught 1st grade, CD, and 5K. I am looking forward to continuing my teaching journey at Seaside Elementary.
When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, David and our pug, Waylie. I also enjoy going to the beach and reading! I am very excited to meet everyone!
Michelle Constable Fourth Grade Teacher
Hey Stingrays!! My name is Michelle Constable, and I am beyond thrilled to be joining Seaside Elementary as a 4th grade teacher. I’ve been teaching for 26 years, and I just moved to Murrells Inlet to get married and live with my wonderful husband Chris. We share five children and a dog named Chance. I’m a huge beach lover, book enthusiast and music lover. You can usually catch me listening to bands on the Marshwalk. I’m looking forward to this school year and connecting with Seaside families.
Samantha Smith Fourth Grade Teacher
Hello, Seaside Community! I'm Samantha Smith, and I will be teaching 4th grade this year at Seaside Elementary! Originally from New York, I have taught 5th grade for the past three years. I hold a master's degree in Elementary and Literacy/Special Education. This will be my first year teaching at Horry County Schools! My son, Henry, will be a 3rd grader here as well! We are both excited to join such an incredible school. With many family members already residing in Horry County, we’re eager to become part of this community. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and gardening. I'm also looking forward to more beach days ahead. I am delighted to join the Stingray community and eagerly anticipate meeting everyone soon!

CD Applications
Applications for the 2024-25 Child Development program is now available on the HCS website. Students eligible for Child Development must be age 4 before September 1, 2024.
Kindergarten Registration Dates
Kindergarten registration for 2024-25 is now open. Students registering for Kindergarten must be age 5 by September 1, 2024.
All New and Returning Students
Registration for all new and returning students in grades 1-5 began on May 1, 2024. You can access registration for these grades online at the HCS website. All students must register each year with Horry County Schools.

In an effort to further enhance our safety measures, HCS will be requiring clear backpacks for all students (who choose to carry backpacks) for the 2024-2025 school year.
Clear backpacks have become a common practice in schools across the country as they allow for easy identification of any items being brought onto campus. By implementing this protocol, we are taking proactive steps to create a safe and secure learning environment for our students.

Free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-2025 school year
All HCS students will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-2025 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for qualifying schools and school districts. CEP allows breakfast and lunch to be offered to all enrolled students at no cost. Schools and school districts that qualify are reimbursed for meals using a formula based on the percentage of students that are categorically eligible for free meals based on their participation in other State assistance programs.
