GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 31, 2025
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families!
Semester 1 grades were posted last week into Skyward Family Access. I encourage all families to sit down with their student/s and look at their academic grades and citizenship scores. This is a great time to praise your student for all of the areas where they are finding success in school. It is also a great time to set goals for areas where there is still room for improvement.
Semester 2 is off to a great start. Our girls Basketball teams and Wrestlers have begun competing. Our Orchestra, Band and Music teachers have planned an outstanding event on February 13th celebrating the amazing talents of so many students in our school. I hope you will get a chance to make it! The new seasons of girls basketball and wrestling are upon us. Our Lady Wolves had two exciting games this week. They played Millenium at home on Monday, but unfortunately came up short. One of the games was decided in the last 20 seconds. Way to fight girls! On Thursday both teams brought us a Win as they beat Mason Middle School. This season will be filled with excitement, so be sure to make it to a game! They have two away games next week.
The Geisler Wrestling team traveled to Holt High School in Lansing Mi last Saturday for its first tournament of the season. They wrestled hard and exceeded the team’s expectations. We had 25 wrestlers compete and 16 placed receiving medals.
Josh Weinberg 1st place
Preston Thomas 2nd place
Jwanni Rojas 2nd place
Alex Khrus 2nd place
Ali Murodkulov 2nd place
Mason Pattah 2nd place

Way to go Wolves! Be sure to check them out at home this week on Monday and Wednesday!

If you are an 8th grade student interested in playing football at WL Central next year, there are workouts from 6-7:30 every Tuesday/Thursday at WL Central. Coaches will be present and they look forward to meeting you and getting you prepared for the 25/26 season!

STUDENT SAFETY-PICK UP/DROP OFF
Wolf Pack Families, we have had a couple of close calls in the last few weeks in our Pick up/Drop off lanes. Please consider the safety of our entire Wolf Pack Community when you are dropping off or picking up your students. SLOW SPEEDS and following the procedures is the best way to keep everyone safe. Say long good byes while you are driving to school. When dropping off, make sure your student is prepared to exit the car quickly. Families who are prepared for this will help ensure more efficient traffic flow.
MATH/ELA iREADY DIAGNOSTIC 2
iReady is an assessment tool that is given to all students grades 6-8 in math and English language arts. The results from the assessment give teachers information on how to tailor their instruction to meet the needs of their class/students. It also gives individual feedback to each student/family on if they are at, behind or above grade level. Lessons can then be completed in iReady that are tailored specifically for each student. If your child is not at grade level at this time, it's ok! In the next few weeks, we will be sending home strategies to help them get caught up. We'll need your support to help us do that.
By Friday, January 10, your child's math and ELA teachers will be giving each student their individual diagnostic results report. If your child did not finish due to absence, it may be a few more days before you receive the information.
Students will be reviewing their own individual data and setting some goals with their teachers.
Please ask your child for their iReady diagnostic results in Math and ELA!
Please review the 2 informational letters below to learn more about iReady and how you can help your student become more proficient in math and ELA.
