Thursday this week was World Book Day. We had lots of fun and the children surpassed themselves with their costumes and enthusiasm. A huge thanks to the Sledmere staff team for their costumes and in particular to Miss Shier who, whilst dressed as Professor McGonagall, led our special assembly. We love reading in our school and encourage anybody who would like to come into school to listen to readers to contact our office staff. You are most welcome.

We are always looking at ways to enhance our school environment. Can you offer any support to school in developing our outdoor areas as we would like to create a reflection area for pupils? Please let us know. We are listening to our pupils' views and would also love to listen to yours.

Our Year 3 pupils upwards experienced a VR Workshop. They were able to travel far and wide from Aztec temples to the sights of Rome without leaving Sledmere! They learnt lots about the technology as well as about places which are very different to their usual ones.

Your children are invited to wear something red for this fantastic cause if they'd like to. Any donations kindly accepted.

Many congratulations to the children who received recognition of marvellous manners throughout lunchtime this week.

Our children are now sitting in mixed age-ranges during lunch to encourage further conversation and friendship. We are very pleased with how they have all responded to this.

We would like to congratulate the Reverend Jacki Tonkin on her appointment as our local vicar. We are delighted to be able to work with Jacki in the future and wish her all the very best in her new role.
