Principal's Message
Good Evening Yowell Families,
Tomorrow is our make up picture day. If you were unhappy with your first set of pictures now is the time to have them retaken. Let your child's teacher know if you would like them retaken. Also if your child is new to Yowell or was absent on picture day we will ensure their picture is taken as well.
Your child will bring home their first quarter report card tomorrow in the Tuesday folder. In addition to the typical report card, each student will receive an attendance report card. As you are aware part of our school accreditation is tied to student attendance. This report card is to help bring attention to partial and full day absences. Any student who misses more than 10% of the school year for any reason excused or unexcused counts against our school accreditation. Last year Yowell decreased our chronic absenteeism rate by 6% and met the attendance thresholds by the state. We appreciate your communication in regard to student absences.
This Friday night is our Trick or Treat event. Families that RSVP'd look for your wristbands and meal tickets coming home in the Tuesday folder. If your envelope is incorrect please contact Krista Galenski in the office kgalenski@ccpsweb.org. Those who are decorating a door will have your wristbands provided when you check in. We ask those attending our event to enter through the K-1 playground entrance.
If you want to walk/run off some pre-Halloween candy calories please consider participating in the CTEC Trailblazer Trot 5K or Monster Mile on Saturday, October 26th at 8am at Eastern View High School. The money raised is used to provide scholarships for CTEC students for college or trade school training. Check out the link in the newsletter to register.

Transportation Information
In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here. Also, this is the direct link to transportation.
Parents of students Pre-K through Grade 3 are expected to meet their children at the bus stop. Failure to do so will result in the child(ren) being returned to school. Should you choose to allow your child(ren) to be dropped off without supervision in the afternoon, please fill out and return this document.
We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.
