Dear Clay families,

As we inch closer to Spring our students and teachers are closely monitoring personal, class and school wide goals to ensure we are seeing growth. Students in 2-5 grade recently completed an assessment called the FAST, both in ELA and Math. In addition, students took the STAR reading assessment. Teachers will be using these 2 assessment tools to monitor students progress. Our Resource Teacher, Mrs. Gray works to support students who are performing below grade-lelvel standards. We are also fortunate to have Ms. Tungol, our full time school counselor. Mrs. Tungol supports all students, but also works with small groups of student to support social/emotional needs.

Summer school is open to all currently enrolled SDUSD students. Clay will not be a host site for summer school, but nearby schools include Marshall, Gage, Foster, Rolando Park, and Euclid.

Students in 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade will participate in GATE testing this year. Any 3rd-grade students who were not tested last year will also be tested. More information will be shared as we get closer to the testing date, which we anticipate will be early Spring.

SDUSD has moved away from on-site COVID testing, effective 1/27/23. Our school will have COVID testing kits available to students as needed. Please remember to keep your child home if they are experiencing any symptoms. If a child is out sick a negative COVID test may be required prior to their return to school. Our health office is fully staffed with our Health Teach, Linda (5 days a week) and our school nurse, Kara (2 days a week), they are available to answer any questions you may have.

We are so excited to be holding our first-ever Jog-A-Thon at Clay! The event will take place on Wednesday, March 15th. With this being our first Jog-A-Thon we could use all hands on deck!
