Monday afternoon from 4:30-4:55pm will be STUDY HALL for all students. It is also snack time...so bring a snack. We expect mature diligence on your studies. If you are not studying, you might lose your position in the competition group, as well as a conference with your parents and Mr. Dixon.

Below are the instructions to log into our Beam app (free) account. This will get your competition show music on your phone for reference during rehearsal. This process replaces the mini music that would fly away.

Remember- Region Jazz Auditions are on Wednesday, September 20 at Plano West Senior High School. Entry fee is $11, and Mrs. Stone can collect your entry.

We will continue to learn new tunes, new scale patterns, challenge our improvisational skills, and listen to our all-state etude performances.

Work to solidify changes to part one, get comfortable with Part 1 at 160 BPM and memorize part two.

Continue to look ahead for Part 2 drill as it comes in and do yourself a BIG favor: lay out your rehearsal clothes WAY ahead of time. This will help you keep track of everything.

Class this week: Part 2 and Junior Guard recruiting!

• Bring all equipment to the gym EVERY day. You never know when we might need to switch gears
• All tape for the show has come in! We will start taping Part 2 flag poles purple AFTER Saturday’s rehearsal. Ballad swing flags and closer flags TBA
• If you have not finished your online training modules…you are now LATE! Get them done. They were due Friday.
• If you are not recruiting with us you will attend classes as usual

Wylie ISD has approved the school calendar for 2023-24. This includes a fall break; however, all athletic and fine arts contests, rehearsals and productions will still run during that week. Meaning, even though WISD has a fall break scheduled, there will still be a football game and contests. This means there will be rehearsals too. Below is our plan for that week, so if you are looking to go away some time, here are the dates we will have games, rehearsals and contests.
