This newsletter is a weekly publication available every Wednesday to our Kilgour community. If you have information to share with our school community, including upcoming events and activities please email details to RC1 by 4pm on Mondays.

WELCOME BACK KILGOUR COMMUNITY

Our 2024-25 Back to School kickoff events will take place next Monday August 12th and include:

2pm - 2024-25 Kindergarten PARENT ONLY Overview (In Kindergarten classrooms)
3pm - New to Kilgour families with students in Grades 1st-6th Overview
4:30pm-6:30pm - Back to School Social - An opportunity to come together as a school community to kickoff the new school year. Meet & Greet Teachers and staff; Drop of School supplies; Join PTA, Sports Boosters, Learn about LSDMC, Kilgour Foundation, Champions Before & After Care program as well as our various partners!

Free treat from the Snowie truck for all Back to School Social attendees, funded by our PTA. (Please just one per person and apologies in advance for any long lines.)

2024-25 GRADE LEVEL SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS

*If financial hardship prevents you from getting supplies, please contact RC1 (Tywanna Watson) using the contact at the end of this newsletter and she will make sure your child has what they need.

SOME BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS

Start time for Kilgour is 9:10am (Students arriving after 9:15am are considered tardy)
The front doors open for students to enter and breakfast begins at 8:50am (All students must enter through the front doors)
All students can eat breakfast free of charge. Lunch is $1.75 for those that do not qualify for free/reduced pricing.
Dismissal begins at 3:35pm for grades K-2 and 3:40pm for grades 3-6 (Teachers will communicate specific dismissal locations)

Seeking Parent Reps for Kilgour LSDMC

Calling all parents and caregivers! Do you have ideas, energy and insight to help Kilgour be the very best it can be? Our Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) needs YOU!

LSDMC is the governing board of parents, teachers, staff and community members which helps shape the educational and extracurricular experience of Kilgour School. We are seeking two Parent Representatives!

One parent rep will serve a standard two-year term (2024-2026). One parent rep will serve one year (2024-2025) of a two-year term that was already initiated by a board member who is moving out-of-state. Parent reps attend twice monthly meetings during the school year and help shape and execute the school's strategic plan.

I WANT TO APPLY FOR LSDMC

Candidates will have until Friday, August 16 to complete the application. Portions of all candidates' applications will be shared with the Kilgour community in advance of the voting window (Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 23). Similar to last year, and in an effort to expand access, voting will be done electronically using Google Forms.

CHAMPIONS UPDATE

Samantha Scott is the new site director for Champions. Stop by the Champions area during the Back to School Social to meet Samantha and some members of her team!

Still need to secure before or after-school care? Click HERE to access the Champions portal and enroll your student/s.

Already enrolled? Get Ready for Your First Day

Our program hours are 7:00AM-9:00AM (before school), and 3:30PM-6:15PM (after-school).

For drop off for the before school program, please enter the building through the FRONT OF THE SCHOOL AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE. Students must be dropped off in the morning by NO LATER THAN 8:40AM (Per Principal Cook-Frazier's Request).

Pick up from the after-school program is unchanged. Please enter the building through the usual Champions entrance located at the Connector by the staff parking lot.

Please ring the doorbell or call the Champions telephone number that can be found on the back door (513-429-6140), and a Champions staff member will let you into the building.

Children will only be released to adults ages 18 and older, authorized in your Parent Portal as an Emergency Contact. Please be prepared to show your ID.

Healthy snacks are provided every day during both morning and afternoon sessions. Our Snack Menu is available for review in our Family Communication Area.

Electronic Devices, Toys, etc.

There are NO electronic devices, toys/squishies/etc. brought from home, that are permitted at Champions unless otherwise approved in advance by the director for special medical or behavioral benefits for the student.
