Bear Buzz, August 2024
Mission Statement: Bryan High School, in partnership with students, families, and the community, provides a student-centered learning environment that cultivates character, fosters academic excellence, and embraces diversity to prepare students for post-secondary opportunity and career readiness.
Dear Bryan High Families,
Greetings, Bears! With the new school year in full swing, it's time for our September updates.
A significant highlight: This September was our grand College Fair, where our entire student body had the opportunity to interact with over 70 representatives from colleges, trade schools, the military, and more. This monumental event offered invaluable exposure and insight to our students about the multitude of opportunities awaiting them post-high school.
Refreshed iPads: We're excited to announce that our current students in grades 10 and 11 will receive refreshed iPads soon. We are transitioning from the 7th generation to the 9th generation iPads, which students will receive in their advisement classes.
Health Services: We continue to support our students' health needs through our partnership with One World Community Health Center, providing convenient, onsite healthcare services at Bryan High.
Tutoring assistance: This support remains available, with in-person sessions held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-5:15 pm in the library. We also offer online tutoring via Paper through the Clever dashboard on the student iPads, accessible seven days a week in multiple languages.
Community Support: We're proud to celebrate the efforts of our Bryan high community, as reflected in our partnership with Project Linus. Last month, we created over 500 blankets, making our total count close to 20,000 blankets throughout our 19-year partnership.
Partnerships: We're also pleased to share that we have over 60 Academy and community partnerships, underscoring our commitment to holistic education, opportunities, and support for our students.
Let's continue to embody the values of resiliency, inclusivity, pride, and compassion together. After all, there are many Bears, but only one Bryan High!
Go Bears!

Academies in Action: Urban Agriculture Academy
Connection is Key: Bryan collaborated with Ralston FFA officers this summer for a tailored training event of team building and goal setting. Thanks to the Open Omaha event put on by Omaha by Design, students were able to visit Lauritzen Gardens, OPD Mounted Police Barn, Conagra Brands, Hardy Coffee Co, and No More Empty Pots Greenhouse! When schools work together, all students benefit and grow.

Competition Helps Us Grow: Urban Ag students recently traveled to the Nebraska State Fair to participate in State Dairy Judging. Students competed in 4 areas: Presenting about dairy facilities, judging classes of dairy females, and giving explanations for their placings of the cows. Maizie Sayles earned a State Red Ribbon, and the team placed 11th! Way to go, Bears!

Students Succeed in Multiple Academies: FFA President Albert Rodriguez Nunez and class of 2024 Ag Academy member, Maya Lagunas Perez, traveled as members of Educators Rising in July to the National Conference for Educators Rising in Washington, D.C. When given the chance to succeed in many capacities, our students have shown once again that anything is possible! #WeAreBryan
