From the Principal's Desk—
Hello Hilltopper Families!
Report cards are coming home today and I am so proud of how hard our students have worked this quarter. With so many distractions around them, they continue to persevere and grow! Be sure to congratulate your student on a job well done.
Our students and staff are thoroughly enjoying Fenway and Hattie! Over the past few weeks, the excitement has been building as teachers have designed a variety of creative and engaging activities to bring Fenway’s world to life. Each day adds a new layer of wonder, from daily trivia contests and beautifully decorated doors and bulletin boards to a special hands-on service project where students made homemade dog treats—donated by Park to the Geauga Animal Warden. The students absolutely LOVED putting their “paws” to work and so did I! Thanks to Mrs. Picone for making the dough and our parent helpers Mrs. Brockway and Ms. Pemberton for helping. Additionally, classes have the opportunity to visit the cozy and inviting “Pet Park” Reading Room, further immersing themselves in the literary adventure. Be sure to ask your student what their favorite reading spot was!
I am looking forward to seeing you at Park’s Literacy Night next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee
First graders Wyatt, Eli, Brad and Curt are math wizards and earned a book token for completing the extra math packet!

One school one book has been a lot of fun for our students! Everyone brought in pictures of their pets for their classroom door and we created a Park Pet Wall of Fame! Watch for different pictures each week.
Also, all the students have the opportunity to read in "The Dog Park!" Check out our pictures!
Thanks Mrs. Picone for mixing the dough so we could make Dog Biscuits to donate!
DOG BONE MAKING SERVICE PROJECT
Students at Park Elementary in grades 1-3 took part in a special service project for the Geauga County Animal Warden, combining kindness with learning. As part of our One School, One Book (OSOB) program featuring Fenway and Hattie, a story about a dog's adventures in a new home and neighborhood, students baked and bagged homemade dog treats. Third-grade teacher Mrs. Picone prepared the dough, and students eagerly rolled it out, cutting the treats into fun shapes before baking. Mrs. Sanislo from the kitchen helped bake the treats, while Mrs. Seese assisted in transporting the trays from the auditorium to the kitchen. This hands-on project not only reinforced themes from the book but also taught the importance of caring for animals in need. Through their efforts, students spread joy to local shelter dogs while making a meaningful impact in their community.

Level Up Your Reading!! Book Fair.
Thank you!!!!
The book fair was a wonderful success. The students had a lot of fun buying books and playing the guessing game. The fair generated almost $5000. The profits will help purchase books and items for the Park School Library.
A BIG thanks to our volunteers for making the Book Fair a big success by helping with the set up, helping students with selecting great books, aiding with the games, and just helping making the book fair fun.

Blizzard Bags
Since we have reached our 5th calamity day, we want to inform you about our Blizzard Bag Plan for Park Elementary which went home.
We are providing Blizzard Bags to your child in the event of inclement weather resulting in a school closure. This will enable your child to continue their learning at home. These bags will contain TWO DAYS WORTH of assignments and activities that align with their current curriculum. Your child's teacher will provide instructions, and we encourage you to engage with your child in completing these assignments to ensure continuity in their education. You will have 10 school days to complete each day's Blizzard Bag assignments. For example, if we have a snow day on March 1, the bag would be due on March 15th.
We appreciate your support in making learning a collaborative effort, even on snow days. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
Stay warm and safe!
