GSA MS & HS Announcements
August 20th, 2021
Congratulations to Tasneem Dizdarevic!!!
Congratulations to our student Tasneem Dizdarevic, who is invited for the third time to participate U17 Bosnian Women's National Team in Bosnia & Herzegovina.
She had many great opportunities in her life, such as traveling throughout the United States with Scott Gallagher ECNL club for games, tournaments, and National playoffs; she was sponsored by Nike to participate the US “id2” elite training camp in Florida; she was being scouted for possible inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. She was the first female that entered the Balkan Soccer camp under the US soccer education.
Now, Tasneem is preparing for the double matches against Slovenia that will take place on August 24 & 26. Tasneem also got opportunity to train with the first and top club “FK Sarajevo” while she is here this month. She is physically active 10 -12 hours per day.
With her Bosnian National Team, Tasneem is also preparing for qualifications in Portugal and for the European Championship scheduled for the May, 2022. Tasneem is sending a message to all school teachers, administrators, and friends, “I feel great and confident, I am ready to face any challenges, so please be ready: I will make you proud! I can’t wait to see you all. I miss you all.”

A NOTE FROM YOUR NURSE ...
The City of St. Louis Department of Health Message
The City of St. Louis Department of Health has compiled several of the recurring questions we have been receiving relating to COVID-19 and the new school year. Below is a link to a video of Dr. Echols answering those questions.
Please make sure your child comes to school with a mask that covers both their mouth and nose without slipping down. They should also pack an extra one in case their mask breaks or becomes wet or soiled. Please do not wear gators or masks with exhalation valves
No nuts or fish/shellfish at school
In order to protect students with life-threatening food allergies as they eat lunch in classrooms, nuts and fish/shellfish will NOT be allowed at school this year. Please do not send items with peanuts, any nuts, fish or shellfish to school (especially be careful of granola bars, many of which contain nuts). Any student with one of these food items will be asked to obtain a free school lunch instead of eating their items from home.
Keep your child home when sick!
As a reminder, please keep your child home if they are ill and notify the office. Attached is the Daily Home Health Screening that lists Covid symptoms. If your child has a new cough, difficulty breathing, or loss of taste or smell...or two of fever, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat, headache, body aches then they should see a healthcare provider and be tested for Covid.
Medication at School
If your child will need to take medication at school, including inhalers, epipens, ADHD medication or other medications, please complete an Authorization for Medication at School Form and contact the school nurse at 314-261-4361 ext.3, or email nursefyler@gsastl.org
COVID Vaccines
If your child has been fully vaccinated for Covid, please submit a copy of their COVID VACCINATION CARD to the school nurse by emailing a copy to nursefyler@gsastl.org, faxing to 314-261-4364, or bringing to the office. We are also working on scheduling a vaccine clinic at GSA Fyler to be held soon.
REQUIRED HEALTH DOCUMENTS for Grades 6,8,9,12
6th and 9th graders should submit a copy of a HEALTH PHYSICAL completed within the last year by August 20th.
8th and 12th graders should submit a copy of their IMMUNIZATION RECORD by August 20th to make sure the child has met state requirements for Tdap and Meningococcal vaccinations.
Please bring to school, fax to 314-261-4364, or email to nursefyler@gsastl.org
Please check your child's immunization records for these vaccines and provide a copy to school. It may be easiest to call the healthcare provider's office and ask them to fax the Immunization Record and/or Physical directly to school at FAX #314-261-4364.
Please fill out Custodial Forms for the Front Office!

UNIFORM POLICY
Please remember to wear your uniform.
GSA uniform policy:
Our building is air-conditioned so that extremes in dress are unnecessary. Dress in good taste. The general appearance of students reflects the character of our school to the community. The grooming and general appearance of students affect the classroom climate and the sense of respect for charter school education. The atmosphere of a school must be conducive to learning. It is to this end that GSA has a uniform for students. Students must be in the GSA uniform before, during, and after school. This includes school functions and clubs, field trips, etc. unless otherwise noted by staff.
Shirts and Bottoms- GSA requires all students to wear khaki pants, shorts/skorts, or capris with an official GSA polo (short or long sleeves). Middle school students will wear maroon polo. High school students will wear royal blue polos. Pants should not drop below the waistline. Students in violation will be asked to put on a belt or use a makeshift belt to correct the problem. Students may wear long-sleeved shirts under their GSA shirts any day of the week. GSA polos can be purchased through the link on the school website.
Middle and High School: Students are allowed to wear grade level colored or gray GSA outerwear that is identified on the school store link as school uniform. In addition, other outerwear may be deemed uniform appropriate per individual school for various allowances.
