Kreft School Counseling Program
August 2018
Welcome!
The start of a new school year is so exciting! I am starting my fifth year as a school counselor and fourth year at Kreft. I am looking forward to building relationships with students as they start their school journey and can't wait to see how much others have grown and changed over the summer.
Working in a primary school is quite possibly the best place to be. I love working with children and seeing the joy and excitement they have for life. It is my goal to help them develop skills as they grow into happy, positive, and successful learners. Please contact me at any time if you have questions, concerns, or need assistance helping your child(ren) navigate through the transition of school, or any other challenges they may be facing.
Counseling Classroom
I am fortunate to have a counseling classroom. Check out some photos from the inside of my classroom where they will have guidance lessons!

Students can use this space if they need to calm down. It serves as an area for them to regulate their emotions in a healthy way.

Counseling Services
- Guidance Lessons: Kindergarten and First grade students will come to my room for guidance lessons once every six days. There will be four main units over the course of the school year (Skills for Learning, Empathy, Emotion Management, and Problem Solving). We will also incorporate lessons about careers and goal setting.
- Small Groups: I will meet with small groups as needed throughout the school year. Students can be referred for small groups by teachers or parents. Prior small groups have focused on friendship/social skills, emotion management, grief, etc.
- Individual Counseling: I provide short term, solution-focused individual counseling for students in need at school.
- Parent Resources/Referrals: If a child has needs that require more frequent counseling support I provide parents/guardians with resources and outside referral options.
Other Supports
- Food Assistance: I am the building contact for our weekend backpack program and assist with the monthly mobile food pantry sponsored by Foodbank for the Heartland. If you are a family in need please contact me for more information.
