Congratulations to all the athletes who were honored at the Metro Conference Fall Sports Awards on Thursday. This is a picture of Vera Wallace earning Player of Year for Girls Volleyball.
Our football team made history on Friday with their win over Ramona High School. They are the first football team to win two CIF Games in a row. They play at Westview on Friday.
From the Principal's Office
Greetings Aztecs. Next week is our Thanksgiving break. This is a great time to appreciate the many things that we are grateful for. Be assured our Montgomery staff is appreciative of our supportive community and especially our wonderful students. Our challenge to students, staff, and families is how can you show your appreciation to others? We hope that each of us finds a way to communicate our thanks to those who support us. Whether a simple thank you or a heartfelt note, these small interactions build support, trust, and positive momentum.
Congratulations to all our fall sports. Most of our teams made playoffs and all had significant program achievements. All sports had multiple all league members. Volleyball had player of the year Vera Wallace. Our Girls Golf and Football teams won league championships. Girls golf had the player of the year in Paloma Jarumayan and 4 all league all league student-athletes. Coach Jarumayan’s teams have won a record 3 straight team championships. Our Football team had 16 all league members, with Vili Trollinger earning defensive player of the year. Congratulations to Coach Dunkle who has the most wins in Montgomery history along with 4th league title in 7 years. This is the first year in our entire history that we have won 2 consecutive playoff games. We are so proud of our coaches and teams. Please come out to support our team in our semi final game at Westview.
Our students and staff have spoken, so parents, your support is more important than ever. Our quest to become a Community School is closer than ever. We are hoping to receive 1.9 million over the next 5 years to create supports like never before on the Mesa. From mental health, tutoring, medical needs, food, housing, counseling and more, this initiative can bring resources to our campus. What we need from you is simply filling out the survey. See this link for the student, staff and family surveys. We need 70% of our stakeholders to complete the survey and say yes to the community school initiative. So far we have over 1000 of our kids and 90 of our staff saying yes. Our parent responses are growing, with 270 completed, but we need 1000 more! Here is the link to our Community School tab which has the various survey links on the right hand side.
Mission on the Mesa!

Non-Privilege List
At MOH, we implement a non-privilege list. The list is created and updated regularly based on the following:
- Discipline: Any students suspended from school will be added to the list and may roll over to the next grading period for excessive referrals to the Assistant Principal.
- Attendance: 3 full day unexcused absences/18 single period unexcused absences or 12 unexcused tardies.
Click on the link to access the list:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v46TN4iNSEfQIYnATVHMFMJ9AYOQVyo8a8jx7j9Vaio/edit?usp=sharing
Students on the list are not able to attend or buy tickets to extra curricular activities outside of the school days such as dances or athletic events.
How to Clear Your Name from the List:
For Attendance: Attend Saturday School!
Discipline: Maintain behavior reflecting our Aztec values. Students will be re-evaluated at the end of each grading period. Referrals to the Assistant Principal will impact removal from the non-privilege list. We strongly encourage you to attend Saturday School!

Athletics Update:
Congratulations to our Aztec Football team for their 28-7 victory over Ramona in the second round of the San Diego CIF Division 4 playoffs. They advance to the semifinal round for the first time in school history. They will travel to Westview High School on Friday night (11/22) with a chance to advance to the championship game. Good luck Aztecs.
Congratulations to our Boys and Girls Cross Country teams for competing in the CIF Championships last Saturday. The Boys and Girls represented our school incredibly well, capping off one of their best seasons in recent memory.
Winter Sports games get started this week with Boys and Girls Basketball. They will be honoring their 2nd Hall of Fame class on Monday night. It is Alumni night and we are hoping to see as many former Aztecs to enjoy watching our boys & girls basketball teams start their season and induct 4 former Aztecs into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Also, don't forget that we will have our Winter Sports Parent Meeting at 6pm on Tuesday, November 19th in the New Gym. We will meet together as a large group to address all parents then we will break into small groups for coaches to meet with each individual team.
If you are still interested in trying out for a Winter sport, please see Coach Martin for information during lunch.
Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to our @cfaoceanviewhills Aztec Athletes of the Week! They both did an excellent job of representing our Aztec Core Values or Respect, Responsibility and Resilience in their respective sport.
Luis Mejia- Football @mohaztecfootball
Luis plays on the Offensive Line for our football team. Luis really stood out in making protection reads and adjustments against Calexico’s all out blitz pressure. His strength and toughness on the Offensive Line allowed our quarterback and receivers make connections, and opened up holes for our running backs!
Angela Cervantes- Girls Cross Country @mohcrosscountry
Angela is a freshman here at Montgomery and was recently named to Pacific League Cross Country 1st team for her performance throughout the season. She topped that off by finishing 8th this past weekend in Metro League Finals; and incredible accomplishment. She will definitely be a huge part of Cross Countries success in the years to come.
Great Job Luis and Angela. You make us proud to be Aztecs!
Get Cleared for Winter Sports
For Sports Clearance, we will no longer be using Register My Athlete. Instead we are with a new company called Home Campus.
As we get ready for the Fall Sports Season, you will need to get your athlete cleared to participate in tryouts.
Your student will need a physical dated after 12/1/2023 and proof of insurance. Both of these will need to be uploaded to complete the registration process.
A copy of the physical form has been attached to this message along with directions on how to complete the Home Campus registration process.
Please Click Here to register your Athlete: www.homecampus.com/login
**If you are registering as a manager, you do not need a physical - however you will need to upload a blank document to complete the registration process.
If you have any questions, please contact our Athletic Director, Coach Martin.

After School Program
Are you interested basketball, soccer, or baseball to get into shape or for fun? If so, consider joining one of our clubs and making new friends. Do you love getting your nails done or your hair? How about Anime, playing video games, or building robots? If the answer is yes, then check out the calendar and find out when and where to meet. Why go home right after school, when we have awesome new clubs running after school for FREE!
