Native American Art in the Present Tense Residency
Kenwood will welcome an amazing cohort of Native American artists next week!
In honor of National Native American Heritage Month and MPS American Indian Awareness & Family Involvement Week, our artists in residence will lead students in creating an art project:
- Wóokiye Wiŋ (Ojibway/Dakota) will work with kindergarten.
- James D. Autio (Ojibwe) will work with first grade.
- Gordon Coons (Ojibwe/Ottawa) will work with second grade.
- Graci Horne (Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota/Hunkpapa Lakota/Dakota) will work with third grade.
- Marlena Myles (Spirit Lake Dakota/Mohegan/Muscogee) will work with fourth grade.
- Angela Erdrich (Ojibwe) will work with fifth grade.
It's not too late to volunteer to support students in making art while they learn with an artist in residence. Please email amysanborn18@gmail.com to sign up.

Please join us at school for our first Kenwood PTA Townhall on Wednesday, November 29, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This quarter's topic will center on the many arts residencies that we fundraise to support - we'd love your feedback about these programs, if you have ideas for new partnerships we can explore, and your general thoughts and feels about how you and your student connect with the Kenwood community.
Don't miss out on this chance to engage in meaningful conversations and contribute to the betterment of our school. Mark your calendars and join us at the Kenwood School PTA Townhall!

Application for Educational Benefits Due Friday, Dec. 15
All families should complete the Application for Educational Benefits, regardless of whether you think you qualify.
This helps Kenwood to secure Title 1 funding, but only if we receive completed applications by Dec. 15! Please submit the application at https://LINQConnect.com. Hard copy applications in English and Spanish are available in the main office.
The application should be submitted each school year. If you're not sure whether you have submitted yet for 2023-24, please email keri.mabry@mpls.k12.mn.us for confirmation. Thank you!
