MCS Viking News
...from the Principal's desk March, 2025
✨ from Mrs. Lake
Spring is only a couple weeks away! It was so nice to have a full week of school last week. I know we aren't finished with the cold weather, but it's so nice to think that Spring is just around the corner. March is such an exciting month for our staff and students with the upcoming carnival and our Spring Break. However, it is also a stressful month as we enter our state testing season with IREAD-3 testing and last-minute preparations for our ILEARN testing. All 2nd graders and any 3rd graders who haven't already passed will be taking the IREAD-3 test on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 4th and 5th. The teachers have them well-prepared...I know they are going to do a great job!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in making our Vik-O-Botics tournament such a success. Many long hours and late evenings were put into this event, and it all paid off on Saturday. I would also like to thank Mrs. Frondorf and all of our community members who came out for the quarter auction benefiting our school library. We are so appreciative of all of the businesses who donated to the event. I think a good time was had by everyone, and many people walked away with some great items. Our Kids Heart Challenge was a huge success this year! MCS raised $1,952 for the American Heart Association. Thank you to everyone who took time to register or donate! If your child is waiting for a jump rope, basketball, t-shirt, or earbuds those items will be ordered and distributed when they arrive at school.
Our Spring Carnival is coming up this Friday evening from 6:00-8:00. The doors will open at 5:30 for concessions and ticket sales. Please plan to bring your family - it promises to be a fun evening for everyone. Please see the attached flyer for more information and to get your presale tickets at a discounted rate.
Spring Break is coming up from March 24th - March 28th. Whether you are traveling or staying right here at home, we wish you a safe, restful Spring Break!

VIKINGS OF VALOR
We kicked off a new program last month called the Vikings of Valor where we spotlight two students who display positive characteristics of honesty, work ethic, kindness, compassion, and integrity. The teachers choose one primary student and one intermediate student to receive the award each month. Winners receive a certificate, a trophy, and a Skyline gift card. Our Vikings of Valor for February were Eldon Sauerland and Bailey Cochran. Congratulations!!
