A special thank you to a dedicated group of Wixom Families that spent several hours working on cleaning up the school's landscaping over the weekend to get ready for the beginning of the school year! Thank you to the WatchDOGS, Girl Scout Troop 77707, and the Wixom Garden Club for making our school a more beautiful place to learn. We especially appreciate the Griffen family for weeding and mulching the outdoor learning space.

We also want to thank our friend Bill Whitley and family at SPURT who donated lots of new mulch. We are so appreciative of your continued investment in our school community!

EVERYONE Must Complete Back-to-School Packet

All families must complete their Back-to-School Online Skyward Family Access Packet by Tuesday, August 21st. Parents/guardians must complete the Back-to-School Family Access Packet for each student, every school year. This packet differs from enrollment and is required for all students, new and returning. The packet should be completed promptly, so your student may start school on August 26th.

We use the online Back-to-School packet to complete forms such as the emergency cards, end-of-day dismissal plans, requests for Wolf Pup Pickup tags, Food Service applications, FERPA forms, and other crucial annual school forms requiring parent / guardian approval. The 2024-2025 Back-to-School Family Access Packet is all completed online through your Skyward Family Access Account.

Parents/guardians need to log in to their Family Access account and use their alphanumeric parent account code to complete the Back-to-School Family Access Packet. If you have trouble logging into your Skyward Family Access account, please visit our WLCSD Online Back-to-School Information site for more information. If you need a new user name or password please click "forgot user name or password" and use the email that you used to enroll your student.

Only families who complete the Family Access Back-to-School packet will receive your child's classroom placement/teacher name when those are posted in Skyward on August 21st.

Meet and Greet

Please join us for Wixom's Meet and Greet on Thursday August 22nd from 3pm-5pm. During this time you can visit your child's classroom, drop off school supplies, meet your child's teacher along with the Wixom Staff. We hope to see everyone there!

Authorization to Administer Medication Form

If your child needs to have medication administered at school, parents must complete an Authorization to Administer Medication Form.

Once the form is completed, drop it off at our main office. The main office will be open daily, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, beginning August 12th*.

In addition to receiving phone calls and email notifications from the school district in the event of a school closing or emergency, parents can also sign up to receive SMS Text messages.

Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Staggered Start for 1st Day of School

Starting Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten is a big step for children. While some students have little trouble adjusting, it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Even children who have been in day care or preschool, or who have older siblings at the school, may feel a bit apprehensive. It's a new building, a new teacher, and a new set of classmates, after all, so it does take time for kids to get comfortable in the unfamiliar surroundings.

I assure you that our JK and Kindergarten staff at Wixom Elementary will an excellent job of preparing for your child to have a comfortable and positive first experience. With that said, we specifically tailor our first day of school to ease your child into a new learning environment.

Here are the times for our Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs (by last name) on August 26, 2024:

Last Names A-M: 9:00-11:30 am
Last Names N-Z: 1:30-4:00 pm

All other students (1st - 5th grade) have a full day of school on Monday, August 26.

***Even with the partial day on August 26, bus service will be provided to and from school for all of our JK and Kindergarten students.

Many stores are having great back to school sales right now. Here are our 2024-2025 School Supply Lists:

Free Breakfast and Lunch for ALL this Year

Michigan lawmakers have approved funding for universal free meals at all schools throughout the state. The program covers free breakfast and free lunch for students from Pre-K through 12th grade for the 2024-25 school year. Wixom will offer breakfast items each morning until approximately 9:00 AM and lunch during your child’s scheduled lunch period.

We continue to encourage all families to apply for the Food Assistance Program this year because this program also gives our school extra funds for hiring additional teachers and purchasing supplies based on family income levels. Box Tops For Education Earns Money for Our School

Did you know you can earn funding for our school with Box Tops for Education? Instead of cutting out individual Box Tops off of products you purchase, you can submit receipts online or in the Box Tops for Education App. You can quickly and easily help support our school by signing up today, downloading the app, and uploading receipts every time you shop.

Bus Information Available August 16

Bus routes will be available to parents via Skyward and on the WLCSD Transportation website on Friday August 16th. You will start to see buses out in the community beginning the week of Monday August 12th. All drivers are required to complete a "dry run" during that week.

Return Chromebooks Borrow Over the Summer

Several families borrow Wixom Title I Chromebooks for the summer. Please return all Chromebooks to the Wixom Elementary Office by Friday, August 23rd.
