Toll Gate Tidbits
December 13, 2024
A Note from Mrs. Lauri
As we approach the holiday season and look forward to a well deserved winter break, it is important to reflect on all of the wonderful events we have taken part of as a Toll Gate community. Thank you to the PTO, and the parent volunteers for all of their work to ensure TASK pie baking went off without a hitch. We made some changes this year, by incorporating a field trip to TASK for our 5th grade students, and having out K-1 students create centerpieces for the soup kitchen. We were able to continue the tradition of baking sweet potato pies to be donated along with Thanksgiving meals to TASK, making many families able to enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal. The students were delighted to spend time with their parents baking pies.
This month at our Gator Gathering, I announced the Toll Gate Educator of the Year, Mrs. Pam Weltz. Ms. Weltz has been teaching at Toll Gate since 2002, and has taught grades 5, 4 & 2 during her tenure here. Ms. Weltz is a compassionate, enthusiastic educator. She consistently advocates to ensure her students needs are met, and builds strong connections with her students and their families. Congratulations again to Mrs. Weltz!
To round out the month of December, our students are engaging in cross curricular activities, with their buddy classes. Thank you to our special area teachers for creating engaging cross curricular experiences for our students. Our students are also working with their Gator Buddies on demonstrating ways to show empathy around the school. We are excited for our winter holiday celebrations next week and a sing- a -long for students in grades K-2.

During dismissal, we love that many families choose to take advantage of the playgrounds and the back fields for some after school fun.
