The Soaring Eagle News (Week 6)
Week 5 (9/30 - 10/06)
Happy Fantastic Friday!!
Wow, what a fantastic week it’s been! It’s been great to have our first full week of school in a while, and I’m thrilled to say it was a successful one. Now that we have gathered our beginning-of-the-year data, we’ve started our intervention groups to support all our learners, refining and enriching their academic skills to ensure success. With progress reports going out on Monday, I hope you’ve had a chance to review how your child is doing in class and have scheduled time to meet with their teacher to discuss their progress, what they’re learning, and the goals we have set for them. Be on the lookout this week for Parent/Teacher conference sign-ups if you haven’t already. These conferences will be a great opportunity to dive deeper into your child’s growth and identify ways you can continue to support their learning at home.
Upcoming Events and Reminders:
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Teachers have sent out sign-up information for conferences. Please sign up to learn more about your student’s progress, what they’re learning, goals, and ways you can support them.
Nurse Reminder: Parents, please note that medications should not be transported to school in a child’s bookbag. All medications should be delivered by a parent and signed in at the Nurse’s Office.
Grade Level News: Check out the latest updates from your child’s grade level to stay in the loop about classroom activities and important dates.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to seeing our Eagles SOAR even higher next week!
Parent Corner: Communication About Student Learning
This week, we are highlighting the importance of two-way communication between school and home, which is a key part of our Alderman School Compact. Alderman Elementary is dedicated to keeping families informed and receiving your feedback. Here are some of the ways we ensure regular communication about student learning:
- Yellow Communication Folders
- ClassDojo
- Emails
- Phone Calls
- Weekly Newsletters
- Updates to Class Webpages and PowerSchool Grades (for Grades 3-5)
- Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Alderman Facebook Page
Parent/Teacher Conferences begin this Friday. These conferences offer a chance to discuss your child’s progress, goals, and any areas of concern. Conferences also provide a platform to set both academic and behavioral goals. When home and school work together to support these goals, students receive the consistency they need to thrive. If you have any questions or concerns, remember, early intervention can make a huge difference!
Effective communication is the foundation of a successful parent-teacher partnership. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher throughout the year, not just during conferences. Teachers value and encourage open communication with families, as we are all working together to support student success.
Alderman Family Feeback:
At Alderman Elementary, we believe that strong, two-way communication with parents is key to fostering a positive and successful learning environment for all students. As part of our ongoing commitment to collaboration, we’ve created a form to gather your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. This form will be available in each newsletter, and we encourage you to complete it anytime you have feedback. Your input will help guide decisions made by our school leadership team as we work together to support our students. Thank you for being a valued partner in the education of our children!

Volunteer Information
All volunteers, both Levels 1 and 2, must complete volunteer training each school year.
We love our volunteers! Whether you want to assist in a classroom, lead a small group, attend a field trip, or simply help in an area around the school, we need you to complete the application process to ensure you are either a Level 1 or Level 2 volunteer!
Our Level I volunteers work under the continual supervision of school staff. If willing to serve our school as a Level I Volunteer, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Read all of the information in this presentation, Volunteer Orientation, and the NHCS Volunteer Handbook (we will get this to you as soon as it becomes available).
- Complete the Volunteer Orientation Assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
After completing Level I certification and if you are willing to complete Level II requirements, please complete a Background Check Application. Background checks cost $22.50 and are valid for three (3) years. Our Level 2 Volunteers may work alone with students and may not always be with a staff member.
General Guidelines after receiving district clearance to serve as a volunteer:
- Please have your photo ID ready when coming to campus to either sign in.
- When volunteering, please respect the instructional day and stay within your volunteer area.
