School-Community Highlights for March, 2024
The mission of McMillan Middle is to academically challenge students and to promote student ownership of learning in a safe, diverse, and respectful environment.
Principal Message
Greetings McMillan Families,
We are nearing the end of 3rd quarter and students are working hard, staying active and planning for high school and summer/future endeavors. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for March 6th from 3:30 to 7 and March 7th from 12:00 PM to 7. You do not need to register or sign up for a time - just come in when it works for you during these hours! Attend, and you're in a chance to win a raffle, with prizes given every 2 hours. Need not be present to win - just to attend!
Remember that we have free tutoring available 3:05 to 4:20 pm Tuesday-Friday in the Homework Helproom located in Room 162. Students also have access to an online tutoring platform called Paper, which they can access through Clever on their district issued iPad. Students may contact their PRIDE teacher for more information.
At McMillan Middle School, we believe that showing up for school every day helps students learn better. When students are here, they can join in activities, work with friends, and get help from teachers when they need it. Research shows that students who come to school regularly do better in their classes. Being here every day also helps kids learn to be responsible and disciplined, which is important for doing well in school and later in life.
We look forward to warmer weather, spring sports/activities and all the celebratory events in the coming weeks and final months of the school year. Encourage students to get involved, stay engaged in class and finish strong.
As always, we thank you for your continued support and involvement in the McMillan Community. If you have any questions, please call us 531-299-2440.
Very Respectfully,
Dr. Walters - Proud Principal at McMillan

Nurse Notes for all grades!
6th/7th Grade Physicals:
Nebraska State Law requires a physical examination by a Physician/ PA /Nurse Practitioner upon entrance into 7th grade. A copy of this examination must be submitted to the school nurse upon the start of school. A complete physical needs to be dated AFTER March 1st 2024 – this physical will also meet the requirements of a sports physical if your child is planning on participating in sports.
All students entering 7th grade MUST HAVE 1 DOSE of Tdap (Tetanus and Whooping cough)
When your child receives his/her physical and immunizations please send a copy of the record to the school Health Office or you may have the doctor's office FAX it to (531)299-2459, so we can update your child’s record.
7th grade students going into 8th grade who plan on playing sports must have a physical dated after MAY 1st 2024.
Vision Screening for 7th Graders:
McMillan has been selected to participate in a vision screening event conducted by Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, Omaha Public Schools, and local nursing colleges. The screening event will be held on March 19th for all 7th-grade students.
*If your student already has glasses or contacts, PLEASE make sure they wear them on the screening day listed above. The screener can then ensure that the student has the ability to focus and that eyes are aligned. Following the screening, results will be shared with the school nurse, who will share with the parent/guardian should there be a potential issue. If a comprehensive eye exam is needed, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to determine the best route of care for their child.
We look forward to serving your student to ensure their vision is of the highest quality and making sure the ability to learn is unimpeded.
If you have questions regarding the Vision Screening event, please contact Nurse Bonacci-Lemay at 531-299-2441
