It was only a four day week but certainly a busy one at school. Our ELL team began ACCESS testing with their scholars, completed NWEA testing in all homerooms, hosted our January family event, and distributed report cards.

We would like to thank all of our families that were able to attend "Pastries with Parents" on Wednesday. Another event is being planned for February.

For those scholars participating in Scouts, the next planned meeting for 2023 will be on January 30th. A new schedule has been provided for future meetings. They will take place on the following dates: January 30, February 13, February 27, March 13, April 17, May 1, and May 15.

The Winter Contingency Plan has been developed to provide relief to people experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis and Central Indiana when inclement weather occurs. This plan is intended to serve as a guide to prevent people experiencing homelessness from experiencing serious harm or death during the winter season. This year, PLA 93 has enrolled in the Box Tops for Education program to raise money for our school! Box tops has done away with the traditional box tops clips, but now they have an app where you can scan your receipt and earn points instantly. Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need - equipment, supplies or experiences the kids love! This is a very easy way to earn money for the school. All you have to do is shop, scan, and earn points!

Here's how it works:

1. Buy Box Tops products and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase.
2. After scanning your receipt, make sure Phalen Leadership Academies School 93 is your selected school in the app.
3. Tap on Give Credit to select your child's classroom. You can scroll down to add a note with your child's name or additional information on who should get credit.
4. The number of Box Tops earned with your receipt will be credited to the classroom you selected.
5. To see where your child's classroom stands on our leaderboard, open the Box Tops app, tap on the school card on the Home screen and check out Fall Leaderboard on the school dashboard.

Want to give credit for a digital or email receipt? Go into the Box Tops app, tap on the My Earnings button at the top of the screen and tap on the transaction you'd like to credit. Scroll past the list of products and tap on Give Credit at the bottom of the screen. Then, select your child's classroom.

All scholars should be dressed in accordance with the school's uniform policy. The dress code is as follows:

KDG-3rd Grade-Red Collared Shirts w/ black or khaki pants

4th-5th Grade-Gray Collared Shirts w/ black or khaki pants

6th Grade-Black or White Collared Shirts w/ black or khaki pants

All scholars may wear Phalen branded attire regardless of coordinating grade level color.
