Board Meeting Summary
July 27th, 2022
General Information
Visitors Carl Erbsen, Becky Erbsen, Delana Erbsen, Nevin Erbsen, Cynthia Feltmeyer, Kelli, Ella, Owen, and Ethan Gunderson were welcomed. No one addressed the board at this time.
Information regarding Old Business, New Business, and the Superintendent Report is listed below.
Old Business
The fuel bid from Carroll Service company was approved. It was the only bid received and is slightly below market value. Superintendent Kashner commented that the school district continues to have a positive working relationship with Carroll Service company and appreciates them servicing our district.
Eastland's National Dairy Judging team presented on their trip to Scotland and Ireland this summer. Dairy team members Nevin Erbsen, Delana Erbsen, and Ella Gunderson shared memories, lessons learned, and photos from their trip. Their team, and coach, Mrs. Feltmeyer, shared their appreciation for the entire community supporting their efforts and how it was an incredible learning experience for them.
Title grants were approved with projected amounts received slightly down from $130,000 to $126,000. Amounts received are based on projected free and reduced totals from the previous school year. The IDEA flow through grant is managed by the district and is utilized to pay for special education services through our Bi-County cooperative.
New Business
The Emergency/Crisis Plan is an annual report outlining procedures in the case of events. Superintendent Kashner shared that the team will continue to meet on a regular basis to provide updates as needed. The Risk Management Plan is a required document to levy in the Tort fund. The risk management plan outlines what the district will spend allocated funds on. Superintendent Kashner shared that the majority of the funds will be spent on the school resource officer, intercom and phone systems, and keyless entry resources.
Superintendent Report
Superintendent Kashner shared an update on funding for Whiteside's CEO program. In June, the BOE heard a request from four Eastland students that will be attending the program requesting financial assistance for transportation. Superintendent Kashner shared that he has secured a minimum of $3,500 dollars from grants and businesses.
