Letter From Ms. Brito
Dear Washington Families,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend and enjoyed the beautiful summer-like weather! We have another exciting week planned at Washington!
I would like to thank the PTO, our staff, and all of the parent volunteers who helped to make Friday's Walkathon such a success! It takes the collaborative efforts of many to pull off the annual event, and we thank you for your support. Money collected from this year's fundraiser will help fund student field trips, student assemblies and provide teacher grants for classroom materials. Your generous contributions help to provide these important materials and special experiences that enrich the lives of our students.
The safety of our students, staff and families is our top priority, and we ask for your support in refraining from parking in the staff lots during arrival and dismissal. Please note that the lots are reserved for staff only. We want to limit traffic coming in and out of the lots, so that families can safely navigate our sidewalks and walking path. We appreciate your support and understanding.
Tomorrow is the District 64 PTO kick-off event at 7:00 at Lincoln. Hear our Superintendent, Dr. Ben Collins, present information about the upcoming referendum and take a tour of Lincoln to hear about proposed improvements to our schools. We hope to see you there!
Have a great week!
Best,
Angie
Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up
Fall Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher(s). We’re using a new online parent teacher conference appointment booking system this year called, Meet the Teacher. Please reference this guide in order to learn how to log into Meet the Teacher and book conference appointments. Please note that appointment booking opens on September 23rd, 2024 at 7:00 a.m. and closes on September 27th, 2024 at 3:30 pm.
This year, parents of students in Channels of Challenge can book an appointment with the homeroom teacher, C of C teacher, or both. If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact your school office. Staff will be happy to make alternative arrangements on your behalf. Our entire teaching team looks forward to this opportunity to partner on your child’s success!
End of Day Office Requests
Please be mindful to not make requests to the office for early dismissal, changes in transportation or after care, after 3:00 p.m. This is our busiest time of day for our staff, and they are not always able to communicate last minute schedule changes in time for dismissal. If you know your child will have an early dismissal or change to their transportation or after care, please alert the office as soon as possible, and include your child's teacher on any communication. Thank you for your support with this!
Picture Day is September 23rd!
Picture day at Washington is Monday, September 23rd!
This year, parents can pre-pay online for picture orders. All orders will close on Monday, September 23rd at midnight. If you miss the opportunity to pre-order, parents will have the opportunity to order pictures with their child's ticket code. Please note, if you place an order using the ticket code after picture day, a shipping fee will apply. All orders placed after picture day will be shipped directly to the student's home. All orders placed on or before picture day will take approximately three weeks to process.
Please see here for more information about ordering your portraits.
